Best youth boot in your opinion
Hi Dr. Mark,
I was just wondering if you had an opinion on the best youth boot on the market for an 8yr old after a bimalleolar fracture. He is about 10 weeks post op and just got the okay to start riding again. Naturally we want to put him in the best boot possible. Also he will need to have his screw removed in about another 4 months, his Doctor said he will need to take up to two months off for the bone to fill in before he should resume riding again, what do you think, does that sound right? Thank you, Kerry Start

I really don't know what he best boot for a youngster is, however I think that after that single screw is removed, he should be able to ride inside of a week or so. A single screw doesn't stress shield the bone like a plate does. I would let him ride by the second weekend if not before.
