Newbie rider down I hope to recover to riding again one day
Hi my name is chance an on October 9th this year I suffered a pretty bad crash cross rutting about 4th gear an went head first into the ground fracturing my c7 an fracturing t2 thru t6 burst fracturing 40% of t6 an had to have a rod fuse in my back an 8 screws, I am paralyzed at the moment but I am getting tingling sensation waist down so I am hoping I come out of it I have rode an raced bikes since I was 3 an love every day of it I grew up riding with my dad an he passed away 2 weeks before my injury while riding an had a pulmonary ambulisem so needless to say it's been a rough road for me an prolly an even longer road to recovery but anyway there's alittle about me an I love this idea of the rider down program awesome things you guys do!!

Chance - I'm so glad we were able to talk yesterday. I think you'll find that the people who post on RDF are the best. They genuinely care and are interested in helping out there fellow riders. We have a wide range of experience with not only the riding/racing aspect of our sport but the injury and recovery aspect as well. Not to mention we come from all walks of life and pretty much cover the age spectrum as well.
RDF is glad that our donors and sponsors have put us in a position to be able to help. Please keep us updated on your recovery and anything else that you want to share. Again, my condolences on the loss of your Dad. Stay strong....we'll talk soon! BV

Hi Chance!! Welcome to RDF. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your year has been rough. Our 16yo son broke his back 11/20/10. T6 ASIA A complete. Paraylzed from the chest down. He now rides a KFX450 and an RZR. Anything and everything are possible so keep moving forward!! Read Kenny Potts, Amanda and Jays stories here on RDF. They are living proof of the power we have within ourselves. Please let me know if you or your family have any questions or concerns. You can contact me thru private message here or contact my son David via Facebook. (David Mast in Enumclaw, WA.)
please keep us updated on your recovery. Happy New Year!! Mast Family |

Hi Chance!! I like what you said "I'm paralyzed for the moment." A great sign your head is it the right place. Said the same thing 7 years ago after breaking my neck and experiencing paralysis for a few months. I was blessed with the you have a 3% chance to ever walk speech from my doctor. Well he was quite wrong and now I have been blessed with the ability to walk the majority of the time and recently pedaled 300 plus miles across Colorado on an English racing trike. Keep at it and never give up, you'll make it dude!!!
Keep us posted on what happens with your recovery!! Jay
