ThumperTalk.com’s Holiday Fundraising Drive was a Big Hit for the RiderDown Foundation

ThumperTalk.com announced in November that their annual Holiday Fundraising Drive would be benefiting the RiderDown Foundation, and its members came out in force! In one short month, ThumperTalk.com’s members raised over $8,100 for injured riders and their families!

In addition to raising money to help RiderDown, a few lucky ThumperTalk.com members who donated received some pretty great prizes. One winner will receive a brand new set of MSR gear courtesy of Tucker Rocky Distributing and two winners will be receiving premium motorcycle lift stands by DRC supplied by Privateer Racing.

"ThumperTalk.com and its members believe in the RiderDown vision and we're happy to have done our part in making sure that injured riders and their families get the care that they deserve,” said Bryan Bosch, ThumperTalk.com owner.

“ThumperTalk.com came through for us this holiday season. We know money is tight over the holidays, and to have their members contribute so much in such a short time was simply overwhelming” said Bruce Vermeulen, President of RiderDown Foundation. “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to ThumperTalk.com for spearheading this amazing effort. We look forward to more joint endeavors in the coming year.”

RiderDown is looking forward to an even more productive year in 2008. During 2007 injured riders including Chris Blais, Doug Henry, Vince Karnow, Chase Borders and many more across the country were helped during some very difficult times. Through the efforts and generosity of the off road riding community, RiderDown has been able to bring significant financial and emotional benefits to those riders and families in need.

Though we wish we didn’t have to, we look forward to continuing to fulfill this need. Check out www.RiderDown.org for more information on the Foundation’s diligent efforts to help our fellow.

Torch - congrats on winning that gear from MSR! Thanks to Tucker Rocky for donating that great prize and to the off road community at large. :thumb

Once again we really appreciate the help and support of everyone involved with this effort. Hopefully we never get an Injured Rider intake form any of you but, if we do, you have a gold star next to your names! :thumb

....and I think I have an idea why.

This is what was removed from my last post:

TT did good, but I am disappointed that the $15,000 goal was not reached. I was surprised at the lack of small donors relative to the size of the site. Three large donors made up almost half of the total. That is not how I thought it would turn out.

I think that paragraph might have ruffled some feathers. That is not how it was intended.

I was surprised at the large donations, because I didn't expect to see big ones. Also, I was surprised that there were not more smaller donations. With the membership at TT, the small donations could have accumulated to be HUGE! I wonder if the mention of the bigger ones took the wind out of the sails of those folks that might make smaller donations. By the way, the smaller donations are just as good as the big ones.

Look at it this way..... You need to take care of #1 first (you, and the family). If you have some left over, you could give it to RD, your church, another charitible cause, or use it to have a cushion for #1. Or, do whatever else you want to with it! It's your money!

So, if my post upset anyone, GET OVER IT!!! If you can give, no matter how much, COOL! If you can't, that's cool too! YOU have to decide, and if you decide that money is a bit too tight to give away some of it, NOBODY will look down on you for that. If you can't, YOU CAN'T! If you can later, when things are looking up, that would be great, but it is still your money, so you are the one to decide what to do with it.

I might be out of line by saying that I speak for Rider Down here, but, whatever you decide to do with your EXPENDABLE income, as far as we are concerned, "no harm, no foul!"
