Your orginization has been so good for us. The uplifiting mesaages that we have received have been more than blessings. Thank you! Our story is small compared to some of the others that I have read about here. But I am going to share, because every prayer helps, and that is what we go on.

We have 4 children. Three of those 4 ride. My fourteen year old, Cody, recently was involved in a accident. You have to know Cody to understand that when I say it was his best race ever, it REALLY was! His big brother is always doing great in his races and Cody pushes to keep up to be just like him. He is my thinker....not a pusher. If there is a jump, he is going to think about the possibilities before taking it. My older boy is the risk taker. Therfore he just does it then thinks about the dangers. That day the boys were both racing. Cody's big brother was done with his race and watching his lil brother at the gate. His dad was postioned at a spot waiting for the race to start. The gate dropped...and to EVERYONES suprise, Cody took the hole shot! I wasn't there, but got the phone call from the big brother telling me that I just wouldn't believe how Cody was riding. I could tell in Josh's (big brother) voice how proud he was! I was told that he was kicking butt and holding the lead, and that they would call when it was over! I couldn't believe it!

The phone rang a bit later, and I said well....tell me he won! My husband was on the other end telling me that there was a little accident. I could tell that he was holding back. He said that Cody was leading and taking a jump. The rider behind him clipped his back tire and caused Cody to flip several times over his bike. When he finally came to a rest, another rider landed on his head. He said he knew that Cody broke his arm for sure, and wasn't sure about anything else. Cody was talking and he would call me. He was sent to a hospital and was there for several hours. The took care of the broken arm and ran several test. Meantime Cody seemed to be doing great! The doctor confirmed that by letting us leave. He was home and tired. He went on to bed and I watched over him. About 3 in the morning he started getting sick to his stomach and massive headaches. As soon as our pediatrician opened, we were in. She took one look at him and sent us straight to the hospital. At least we were home, and could go to our hospital. We went back through the same testing. Still, everything clear. They say that God does things at the right time for the right reasons...he does! We were about to be dismissed again, when the nusre did her last blood pressure, temp check. Cody was running a 103 temp and the bp was not right. He was admitted into the hospital for a 24 watch. The next week seems almost a blur. Within 6 hours of being admitted he started having violent siezures and the within 24 hours he went into a coma. They ran test AGAIN, and saw that he had slight brain swelling. He was being airlifted to another hospital that had pediatric neuro surgeon. We stayed in the ICU for three, maybe four days (blur). When Cody woke up, it was just like the movies...his eyes opened and he stated he was hungry! We stayed in the hospital several days after that, before finally able to go home.

Cody is doing tons better, but still having siezures. He has a bit of a different personality. Lots of angry outburst and trouble in school. The doctor, his neurologist, was hoping that by the 6th week, he would be back to "normal". Unfortunately, he is not there yet. The cast is gone. Things healed great there. We travel 7 hours for the doctor visits. There seems to be alot of those lately. It has been 9 weeks since the accident.

So here is what I ask of anyone reading this. Prayer that we all have piece of mind. Thank him for Cody being here. Ask that Cody cont. to heal. That is why I titled this, always blessings...we are blessed that we have our son.

Last, thank you, thank you , thank you all that help and put so much time into this orginization. I know that you help people, but do you ever really sit down and realize the emotional support that you really give? I cried over just a letter that was sent. The timing was wonderful!

God Bless....

Wow!

First off, your story does nto seem small at all! You all went through some major trauma, and are continuing to deal with the after effect. That is not minor!

Know that we are thing of you and wishing you all well.

Keep up the hard work and positive attitude. Cody will get back to normal!
