The third case is that of Kiefer Rosier. He is a 16 year old form Illinois. Kiefer is a very fast young man riding in the A class. I have watched him come up from a youth rider. I have always been impressed with his desire.

In February he was in a car accident with three other 16 year olds. No drinking or drugs involved, just a slick road. The sad news is that the girl in the seat in front of Kiefer passed away. All of the kids were severely injured. Kiefer broke his femur and his tibia. He also badly broke his right wrist.

I spoke with him in person at our Winter Series banquet in May and have talked to him and his father on the phone since. He continues to get better and is now walking without crutches. His wrist is getting better and he thinks he can turn a throttle. He has many months of recovery still in front of him, but he has a very positive attitude and I am sure he will do fine.

I have a unique opportunity to help Kiefer. His injuries are very similar to the ones I sustained in 2002. His youth should allow him to recover much quicker and more fully.

Good luck Kiefer, sorry to hear about the accident but it does sound like you're on the right path. As Shawn knows, I had some somewhat similar injuries in 2000 and I can guarantee it would have been an easier road to recovery had I been 25 years younger!! :D

Take care!!
