Tomorrow begins a riding odyssey I've planned for 4 years - - - The Trans-America Trail. If you've never heard of it, check out www.transamtrail.com .

Tomorrow I'm taking my 950 to my riding buddy's house. There, we'll put my bike in his pickup and his bike on a trailer. He'll then drive them to Texas where he has a house. In 9 days I'll fly out to meet him there. Then we ride up to Braman OK to pick up the trail. About 14 days and 3,000 miles of dirt later we should be looking at the Pacific ocean in Port Orford, OR.

I've spent the last few days prepping the bike and adding the necessary accessories and gear for the trip.

Here's what the bike looked like stock: PIC (http://picasaweb.google.com/tonygasper/950/photo#5038134978368428354)

And here's the battle-ready version: PIC (http://picasaweb.google.com/tonygasper/TransAmTrail/photo#5081568732090706658) (Notice the front fender sticker :thumb )

This MAP (http://picasaweb.google.com/tonygasper/TransAmTrail/photo#5081568706320902866)gives you a basic idea of the ground we'll cover.

It's going to be GREAT! :thumb

Wow...talk about a serious road trip!!!

How cool is that?! Have fun and be safe...and remember to take pics whenever you get the chance! I don't know how feasible it is, but a journal of the trip would be just sweet.

What a great trip and experience that was. Absolutely a great time with no real problems or mechanical issues.

I'll post a ride report some time soon.

Tony:

I am glad that you are back in one piece. That sounds like the trip of a lifetime. I want to hear all about it. I think I want to try it.

I can't wait for more pics and a trip report.

I finally got around to stitching some video together. It's a compilation of pics and video taken by Mike and me. Looks best if you view it at "original size".

Tony - I just tried watching this again and the link didn't work? Time to update?

There's talk about someone doing this ride as a fundraiser. Should be interesting!

The link is active, but the RDF forum keeps trying to embed the video and it gets messed up and doesn't play. I'm going to mess with the link to try to keep it from embedding.

Paste the line above into your browser and take out the spaces between the "video." and "google"

A fund-raiser, huh? Hmmm, usually I'm not one who likes to do the same ride twice, but in this case.......
