Vince Karnow had a very bad accident at Meadowlarks track in Ohio. He broke his pelvis in two places, dislocated his hip and shoulder. He had surgery last friday and is starting rehab.
Please keep Vince and his wife Lisa in your prayers !
My son has attended one of Vince's Mx schools. He is an all around nice guy and the kids just love him !

Vince was moved to the rehab floor at Cleveland's Metro Hospital today. I was told he is looking at at-least another 10 day stay before he can go home.

Vince is at home. He is continuing to recover. He is getting frustrated with all the paperwork. He carried extra insurance everyone should have. Especially those involved in extreme sports. Unfortunately, he is finding out how slow the system works.
He still hasn't been able to get his staples removed yet. I believe he said that there is 48 of them holding him together. :yikes
Vince and his wife are extremely active people. I'm not sure who is going more crazy. Lisa, who is now playing "Nurse wife" and not the good kind :D or Vince who is forced to sit around play video games and watch TV.
I would say to everyone.... pray for Lisa first. :D She is going to need all the patience in the world. There is nothing worse than an injured man who also has 2 stroke fumes flowing through his veins ! :lmao

It's certainly understandable to be frustrated with dealing with insurance companies and to be injured on top of it!!
I have no idea what Lisa is going through as Bruce was a perfect angel when he broke his hip. :lmao Yeah right!
Were definitly thinking of both Vince and Lisa!

Vince and I want to thank everyone so much for your thoughts and concern. We received an overwhelming amount of visitors and phone calls - both while Vince was at the hospital and now that he is home as well. It is at times like this, that you really appreciate the close friends that you have made at the various tracks and races. It makes us feel so cared about that our motocross family has reached out to us in so many ways. There were so many people that showed concern for Vince, but surprisingly people also showed concern for me as well. I got several calls to offer help and support to me in this time as well. As many people know, we had just moved into our new house 4 days before the accident, and I was getting tons of offers to help finish moving and even unpack the boxes. Thank you to everyone for your friendship, caring, and support throughout this ordeal.
Vince has been home for 2 weeks and he even got his staples removed the other day. He is hobbling around with his walker, but he is anxious to see you all in the near future at the races (just wait until he hears what I have to say about that!!!)
So, once again, thank you so much friends and family! You have really helped us get through this injury! See you at the races!!

Lisa - I'm glad to hear you received so many offers for help. That's how it should be. Any one of us would hope that it would be the same if we got injured. Hopefully you took some people up on their offers of assistance!
Also - There is a package on it's way to Vince from RD that should be there soon.
Take care,
Amy

Lisa,
Thanks for the update. I hope things are going well. The MX community is a very tight group. They all help one another because who knows when the shoe could be on the other foot. Thanks again for joining the forum !
If Vince gets out of line just threaten to kick him in the hip. Then hide his walker !! :D
Talk to you soon !

Hi Vince & Lisa,
So sorry to hear about the accident. I'm glad to hear things are going pretty well for y'all. My husband broke his pelvis last year and it was a nightmare due to mistakes made by the hospital and a defective plate they put in that broke 3 weeks later. I'm happy to report that we both survived. It was a lot of togetherness for several months. We joined Netflix and watched a lot of movies and series on DVD.
Hope everything continues to heal on schedule.

I spoke with Vince today. I thought I would give everyone an update on his progress.
He says he is healing quite well. Having more trouble with the shoulder than his hip or pelvis. He has since gone back to work answering the phones and doing data entry. He is not scheduled to be released for light duty until the end of September. I know everyone understands the need for income. I just hope he isn't jeopardizing his health by rushing things to quickly.
Once again, another Mx'er with a high pain tolerance and no patience. :D
Hang in there Vince. We are all thinking of you and wishing you a full and speedy recovery !
