Greetings,

Well, it has been a little over 3 months and boy what a ride !!!! I can honestly say that Amanda's recovery has surprised the Medical Community here in Reno.... Amanda went from complete paralysis from the waist down to only having paralysis in the Right leg.... The Doctor's were not that possitive at first saying that she would have trouble with bodily functions. That is not even any concern anymore.

There is a group of Physical Therapist here in Reno that took Amanda on a Pro-Bono basis as her Insurance still refuses to pay.... These people at this facility are unbelievable!!!!! I have seen such a dramatic change in Amanda's recovery that I sit with my mouth open while they are working with her. If it weren't for them I truly believe that she would still be in a wheel chair (we still use if we are going to walk alot), not a walker. YES!!!!! I said walker (YEH)...... She has to lift her hip way up, but she can get it up enough that she can swing her Right leg ahead enough to take a step.... They are talking about getting a brace for her foot as there is still nothing to hold the ankle and they are afraid that she will twist it and cause further damage. She no longer has the toes curling and she can wear shoes !!!!

The local Motocross scene in the Reno area are throwing her a Benefit Race Weekend.... I have attached the flyer...... It is truly amazing how people can pull together and support each other!!!!! I will be indebted to them forever.

I know some of you have seen the AMA magazine, just a quick blurb about Amanda and the Health Insurance problems.... I will go to a different Forum to tell about that....

Anyway, all I can say is that I have always been the one that helped people out when they were down...... I never thought we would ever need help and to be honest, I am still embarresed about needing that help.... I still get so frustrated with myself for not paying more attention. Yes it is hard to ask for that help and now that I have asked, there has not been one person to say no.... THANK YOU!!!!!!

That is just awesome to hear. Don't ever settle for what the doctors say. She will continue to get better and better.

All the best,

Shawn

Great News!!! It's so energizing to hear someone overcoming the odds. I know what you mean about asking for help. I never thought that I would be in that situation, but I've learned to swallow my pride to help my son and my family. And, like you, I have been amazed by the number of people willing to help. Keep up the good work and we'll keep you in our prayers.
