We have a young man in our organization that was severely injured in June 2005, in Seaford DE. He was hospitalized with severe head trauma for many weeks. They were able to bring him home in September and he is making some progress. They are a great family and have suffered much because of this.
This is my first time visiting this site so I'm not sure if this is where this belongs. I'm glad I found it though.

Hi Lee Ann,
Welcome to RiderDown, we're glad you found us. I am so sorry to hear about the young man in Delaware, we hope he comes through this ordeal well. That is the main reason we started RiderDown, it just seemed like we kept reading those types of stories every week and we wanted to try and make a difference. One of our members, who is out of town this week, has a son who went through something very similar, I'm sure when he gets back next week you will hear from him, right here.
Please keep us updated on his recovery by posting it here and if you can email us his contact information we'll get him a little something out along with some information for the family.
Thanks again
Joe

Joe -
Thank you very much for responding. I will get his information and send it to you. I would love to help this organization in any way I can. The last communication I had a couple of weeks ago was that he spoke his first words since June. Needless to say we're all praying that he continues to get better.

Hi Lee Ann,
Ooh, first words after 4 to 5 months, the poor kid and that poor family. The positive side is that at least there is some progress and some hope to help them through this terrible time. Head injuries are so hard to try and put any time table to.
Our thoughts and prayers are with him and the family. We'll look forward to the updates.

Hi Lee Ann,
Our prayers are with him and his family. These are tough times for all concerned with his injuries and we hope a speedy and full recovery.
Without revealing his last name, what is his name? Is there any type of fund set up for him yet?
Stay in touch.

LeeAnn, So sorry to hear of this. As Art asked earlier ,is there some kind of fund set up for him? If so get me (and Riderdown ) the info. I'd like to make a direct contribution.

LeeAnn,
The entire family is in my prayers, thank you for bringing this to our attention.
As Joe mentioned, I went through something very similar when my 8 year old was injured and in a coma for over 3 weeks and then needed to learn to walk and talk all over again. Tell the family to stay strong and positive and deal with this task one day at a time and expect improvements to come in waves with small changes in between.
Please keep us posted and provide us with as much detail as possible in regard to the accident, insurance status, financial needs, medical services provided, etc.
I can personally be contacted at wysong@riderdown.org for additional information and to exchange phone numbers.
All the best,
David

I'm sorry I haven't been back on to answer questions, it's hard for me to post at work and I've been trying to get his information. His name is Mikey S. He was a very fast rider and I loved to watch him ride. I only met him once, but my husband and several of our friends know his family. I'm a member of the Middle Atlantic Motocross Association (M.A.M.A.) and he was hurt at one of their races in June 05. I know that the M.A.M.A. organization has had a couple of fundraisers for him, but don't know if they actually have a fund to contribute to. I am trying to get in touch with one of the Board Members for more information. I do know that he and his family have truly suffered a lot emotionally and financially.
I want to thank you all for your prayers, and concern. It is really nice to know that there are people out there that care even though they've never met the person. What a great organziation!
