Hi my name is Christina and I joined this site because someone very close to me is in trouble. My boyfriend was a pro mx rider but shattered his ankle last year in a bad MX accident. He has had several surgeries to repair it but the doctors say that it will never heal completely and he will never be able to ride the same again. Since all the doctors have told him this he has gone into a downward spiral and terrible state of depression. It was his dream to be a pro MX rider and make a career of riding and his dreams are now shattered. I am reaching out to find anybody that knows anyone with similair injuries or some sort of similairity that has recovered to uplift him and give him hope that HE can recover because he doesn't think he can. His name is Matt Stavron, you can google his name and find a video of him kicking *** before his injury...thanks 4 listening

Sorry to hear your story about your boyfriend but one thing is for sure -- you can never give up hope. You said he was told he would never ride the same again. He may not be able to ride the same but if there's a will, there's usually a way and I bet he can find a way to ride if he thinks he can. My brother shattered his ankle beyond repair in a car accident several years ago and hobbled for quite some time but the body is a miracle machine and he's lost some weight and done some therapy and is much better now. We've also had doctors tell us many things that our son, Jeremy, will never do after he broke his neck and he's slowly proving a lot of them wrong. Keep the hope alive, listen to the therapists and pray for the best. Good luck and blessings to both of you.

Christina,

You've come to a great place to get support for both your boyfriend and yourself. As Jeremy's mom said - keep the hope alive. Having a positive mental attitude is half the battle which I know can be very difficult sometimes. Is there anything you can think of that will cheer Matt up?

Dear SCorpgurl:

I am sorry to hear about your boyfriend. Many of us on this site have experienced serious injuries. It is always difficult to recover, but it is amazing what you can accomplish.

I would be happy to talk to your boyfriend. Just click on "Injured, Need Help" and fill out the form. That will give us what we need to make contact and see what we can do to help. Most of what we do is offer moral support and encouragement.

After a bad accident in 2002, my doctor told me that I would never walk without a bad limp and riding a MC was out of the question. I would not say that I am 100%, but I am back to riding and racing and most people can't tell that I was ever injured.

Best of luck,
