I hope you get a great turnout! We got a really nice thank you note from Jim for the help and support he and Leslie have received from RiderDown. We would love to see them supported further. Awesome job Jeff!!:thumb
Only 2 months now... This will be the first time Jim has been back in the desert since he was flown out. At the time of this event it will have been almost exactly 1 year since his wreck.
Jim has made so much progress it's inspiring. He even showed me a new accomplishment at his Rehabilitation Gym in San Diego. He was able to use his legs to move from his chair to a mock bed, lay back, lift his legs on the bed and use his feet to scoot himself into position. The smile and look of pride when he showed me what he could do was like a beam light. Rock on Jimmy !
Look for some cool new pictures and videos of "Jim in the Gym" in the next week or so.
If you would like to attend our 1st annual RIDEtoWALK please use the GUEST RSVP for this ride at http://ridersonline.org/socal/oco.htm I will send you directions... event details... and a form for signing up sponsors for the ride as well.
Thanks everyone.

Hi Gang:
Our 2nd Anniversary at RIDERS is being held at Ocotillo Wells on Nov 2-5 2007. This one is Special to me and I'd like to see as many of us come together to mark this Anniversary as is possible. I hope you can make the time.
In addition, to our Anniversary it's also our first ever Poker Run held to benefit the RiderDown Foundation & SmileyRiley who was injured in Ocotillo just last year. This is NOT a solemn event but a fun filled family event meant to create smiles and good times.
:::::::POKER RUN IS VOLUNTARY::::::::
While I hope the Poker Run is very successful, it is completely voluntary. You are welcome to come, enjoy your RIDERS riding buddies with or without participation in the Poker Run Events.
If you have never been to a Poker Run they are family styled events and NOT races. There is a series of check points where you draw a card. Winning is determined by the 5 cards drawn throughout the event. Not who rides the fastest.
The Saturday Poker Run will be a 30 mile tour of the major sites in the Ocotillo Wells SVRA. The Sunday Poker Run will be a 52 mile ride to Superstition Mountain and back (26 each way). Cost to ride in either event is $20.
:::::::Dinner Saturday Afternoon::::::::
Yolanda and I will be serving dinner Saturday Evening to benefit RiderDown & SmileyRiley. The menu will be Pulled BBQ Sandwiches, Potato Salad and Coleslaw. Cost for Dinner is $10.
:::::::SmileyRiley is COMING !::::::::
Looks like Jim (Smiley) Riley and his family will be out to enjoy the weekend and offer their Thanks to all that have helped in their time of need !
:::::::Other Riding Groups & Clubs::::::::
We will be joined by BEANZnCRACKERS riding group for this fun event. We encourage other groups and clubs to join us as well !
:::::::Honda EU2000i Generator Raffle::::::::
We will be awarding the Honda EU2000i Generator this weekend. It's not too late to buy tickets. http://smileyriley.org/donation.htm
:::::::Any Dirt Bike You Want Raffle::::::::
We will kick of a very cool new raffle for a Dirt Bike or Quad. It's called the ANY DIRT BIKE YOU WANT raffle. We will be selling 3000 tickets for $10 each. As soon as all 3000 are sold we will award the bike. The winner will choose the dirt bike of his/her choice from a list of some of the most popular dirt bikes or quads on earth !
That's RIGHT... WE WILL AWARD THE BIKE AS FAST AS WE CAN SELL THE TICKETS ! So as soon as you have all your tickets tell everyone you know so you can win faster !
Just some of the bikes on the list will be:
2008 KTM 300EXC
2008 KTM 530EXC
2008 Yamaha WR450
2008 Yamaha Raptor 700
2008 Yamaha YZ450F Quad
2008 Honda CRF450X
2008 Honda CRF250X
2008 TRX450 Quad
More will be added !
Bikes being provided at COST by Del Ammo Motorsports & Simi Valley Honda.
I hope to see you all at this event. Come for a day or the weekend. Come for the events or just to ride with your RIDERS friends.
Regards... Jeff aka BOLT

Tracey says to call her direct line if you too would like to stay at La Casa del Zorro and she will take extra good care with your arrangements. Just tell her you were referred by Jeff BOLT with the RiderDown Foundation who is holding the RIDE to WALK event in Ocotillo Wells.

Can tickets be purchased long distance?
Kim
Yes... The generator is only 50 pounds and can be shipped. The bike can be shipped as well. However, the winner is responsible for shipping. To make it easier the bike can be left UNCRATED and shipped to a local dealer for assembly & PDI. This too would be at the winners expense.

1st Annual RIDEtoWALK held in Ocotillo Wells
We arrived in Ocotillo Wells on Thursday around noon with a broken leaf spring on the trailer. I want to thank West Coast Trailer out of Riverside for sending 2 guys out to fix it on Friday IN CAMP even though I was 1 full year out of warranty. In the market for a Toy Hauler ? Please give Tim your business. http://westcoasttrailer.com
I found Art from RiderDown in camp when I arrived. He made the 9 hour drive in time to greet Yoda and I when we pulled in.
Camp continued to grow all day Friday until we had about 60 people in camp. We had about 10 more roll in Saturday just for the Poker Run. Yoda pulled out the new RiderDown Ts and Hats for the folks and we got registration underway. The rolling check points with ride leaders carrying Playing Cards and Sharpies worked nicely ! I recommend it. We just handed out a strip of duct tape for a score card.
http://ridersonline.org/images/trips/110207_oco_tease.gif
Everyone made it back to camp with only one bike needing retrieval due to breakage. Jimmy's (Smiley) buddy won the Saturday Poker Run and donated the prize money back. More about other winners below...
Our spaghetti dinner was a hit... especially the garlic cheese bread ! LOL Then we sent Yolanda out on a buggy ride while Joan & John broke out the fantastic surprise birthday cake made to look like her Honda 300 Quad and our famous lighted Palm Tree. This thing was amazing and took 14 cakes to make. Yoda was fighting back tears BIG TIME. We sang... she cried... The trick candles would not blow out... we all laughed... LOL
Then we broke out the surround sound and flat screen for the Saturday night movie showing of Spiderman 3... after which we had a little fireworks show.
The Sunday Poker Run was just one group of 10 but we had a blast. Greg fell out early due to his 2 stroke misfiring... We made our way out to Superstition without event. On the way back Art decided to show us how the Leatt Neck Brace works that RiderDown is now selling. I thought he was going for a pass on me in the wash but then he just up and threw himself off the bike and did some fancy brake-dancing in front of me. LOL
All kidding aside he did go sown pretty hard. But the Doctor has since cleared him of any broken bones. He'll be sore for a bit but is OK otherwise. After cleaning sand out of every orifice Art manned up and finished the last 10 miles back to camp and got to bed early. Poor guy had to drive home the next morning. Art is a GREAT guy and we are all very glad he is relatively OK from his thumping. :2thumbs:

Sounds like the event went off without a hitch, minus Art's dirt sample! Congrats to everyone for making it a fun success!
Man of Steel Award goes to Keith LeClair
Looks like our good buddy and Man of Steel Keith took a thumping on our Sunday ride. Keith took a spill in San Felipe Creek Wash on the way out to Superstition almost in the same place that Art went down. Unfortunately, Keith broke a rib and maybe two. You would never have known it the way he finished the next 40 miles of the ride. He is taking this week off and the Doctor gave him drugs to combat the pain. :)
