Cool. A Husky Memorial Pilgrimage. I'll be there if the river don't rise and God willing.

And if it were a little closer to home!!!!
I hate missing a ride but it'd be a little far to go, even for me.
I'll be there in spirit.
Where can I get more info on the Husky Memorial?

Steve- I hear you about being a long way for you. However, the memorial is a MUST see. It's in the mojave desert and pays tribute to a fallen rider. Just being in the presence brings a sense of how fragile life is and what a wonderful way to honor an individual.
You should make the pilgrimage. I'm sure we could rustle up a bike for you to ride.

You're right, Stevie's, MiniRocketman, accident was in a National Park and a good friend installed a granite marker in the desert floor, just a little ways away from the site so no one would find it unless they had the accurate location.....Private markers and memorials etc are not permitted in a National Park....Somethink like the "Husky" is just so appropriate.
I shared this thread with Linda....She saw the "Husky" and said...."That's cool, this is a benefit for this guy Smiley? Why aren't you going?
So......
Where do I fly into and on what day?
Can someone find a place for me to "Crash" (poor choice of words for the RDF Forum)for a couple of days.
I'll be honored to ride anything that will start!!!!
Let me know.
Steve

Riding out to the Husky has been something that I've wanted to do for a looong time now and I can't imagine a better group or reason to do it than this particular trip. Unfortunately as so often happens these days I can't make it that weekend.
By the way Jeff, that Raffle just keeps getting better, eh? I sure could use a generator! Sweet helmet too but if I take second it'll go back into the "re-raffle" to help raise more funds.
Steve - that's awesome that you are going to make it for this event!! :thumb Has anyone contacted you yet about a bike to ride and a place to "crash"? :)
Keep Smilin' Riley!!!!

MikeCR125 - we are hoping to have a booth at Loretta's this year and of course we welcome any and all help! The best way to get involved with these events and helping RiderDown is by filling out the form available in the tab at the top of the page called "Join RDF as a Volunteer". That way we can get info out to people in the right areas.
Thank you!!:thumb

Really glad to hear that everone had a good time, I sure wish I could have been there with you all. Thanks for the pics, can't wait to see more!
That was just one of many great groups of riders that came out to support Smiley ! You'll find Jim and Leslie's son... and long time friends Mike and Harvey... as well as our new buddy Steve front and center after flying in all the way from TEXAS. Steve's buddies from "Lost Trail Riders" of Texas purchased 40 raffle tickets and if they win want to purchase price of the generator to be gifted to Smiley !
This idea grew and RIDERS members Danny "Double" as well as John & Joan decided to do the same and together purchased another 70 tickets with the stipulation that if they win, the generator purchase price is to be donated back to Smiley !
Steve I can't that YOU enough for being more than a guest... You were more like a best friend and co host throughout !
http://www.smileyriley.org/coppermine/albums/userpics/10001/normal_100_0196.JPG
The guys from KTMTalk.com rocked ! I was able to get a weak Internet connection at camp. We saw right away we would need reserves replenished and posted up on Friday what would be needed throughout the weekend. I asked for ICE... and people showed up and loaded me up Sat AND Sun. I asked for a can of coffee for the wifey and Steve as we could not have planned for the caffeine appetite of these two... LOL... and wham I had a monster can of coffee. I asked for extra tables as the crowed grew and they showed up ! I asked for water to cool folks off with misters and 60 Gallons appeared in the desert... And Ben took it to another level with the mass quantities of "home made/canned" chili and great music ! LOL These folks really had my back on this event. I can't begin to thank them all enough !
Most importantly, I asked for people to come have fun and support Jim (Smiley) Riley. By the time the weekend was over we had about 40 adult riders... 10 Jr riders... approx 9 different rides... we raised spirits... Jimmy's son got to come ride and see the outpouring of support first hand... and with the generous help of many we raised just under $1500 between direct donations and of those sent in online by friends and riding buddies as far away as Florida ! Not bad for an event held in the Mojave DeZert in 104 degree heat ! Ha Ha
We`raised enough money to pay off the last of Smiley's wheel chair lift so that he can now take his electric chair to therapy and have MOBILITY !
Again, THANK YOU everyone involved big and small mentioned or not !
