In March, my little buddy Conrad Lofton was injured at Badlands MX Park. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital with a broken femur and spent the next few days there recovering. My heart broke when I learned of this tragic event. Conrad is one of my best boys. I have always loved him like my own and have watched him grow and learn from the beginning of his time in this sport.
Being an angel to these fallen riders is so bitter sweet. I hate to know that anyone has been injured in anyway, however, I was honored when asked to be his Arc Angel and I didn’t hesitate one minute.
We meet up with the Lofton family at a local hamburger stop where we knew the boys could let loose a little. Conrad hobbled in on his crutches, with little brother Cameron not far behind. When Conrad found out he had been nominated as a recipient in the RiderDown foundation program, he grinned from ear to ear. His smile is priceless. He is the most beautiful kid, inside and out.
I presented myself as his Arc Angel, gave him his gear bag full of goodies on behalf of RiderDown, including all sponsors. His eyes lit up, you just had to be there and see it yourself to appreciate it. This kid is a 10 year old little man. He is so thankful, generous, loving and full of spirit. Conrad said “Thank You” as he pulled out each and every gift from the gear bag. He did not miss one gift or one thank you. When he got to the Monkey Butt Powder, he set it aside; I believe this was his most precious gift of all as he did not hesitate to show it off to every passer byer. I received several hugs from Conrad, not shy, this little guy. He has lots of hugs to share with others. His little brother, just the same and just as proud to be included with his little gift bag we had made for him.
I am so blessed to be able to do this for the Lofton family and I want to thank RiderDown for including me in this event. It was a wonderful day and one that Conrad and I will never forget.
Thanks for everything RiderDown:
Leslie Dale
