We at RiderDown have helped a lot of riders in the short time we have been active. None though has captured the heart as with young Jake Schneller. Many of you have kept up with Jakes Progress and we have been happy to keep his updates available. I thought it appropriate to place the following thank you from the Schnellers in the Riders We have helped Forum. I know I can say this on behalf of RiderDown

Way to Go Jake, Your an Inspiration to us all

From the Schnellers

March 3, 2007

Dear Friends:

We are very sorry it has taken us so very long to send you a “Thank You” note, but better late then never. We intended to send this note around Christmas time, but things have been crazy.

This year has been tough for us, but with the help and prayers from so many people our little Jakob is doing great. Jakob had another rejection just 3 weeks before his 3 month post transplant, and so we had to extend our stay in Colorado. We were given the okay to come home in mid-January, after a small heart procedure, and so we are a whole family once again.

You - the members of KTM Talk, eRobertParker, and Rider Down have made a big difference in our lives. May God bless you for your kindness and donations; which have helped with housing, food, medications, and co-payments in Parker, CO. We still have a little left now that we are home and this will greatly help with the hospital and doctor’s bills (as they are now just starting to arrive). Dad has saved up enough for Karl to get a used XR70 and has donated Karls’ KTM Mini Adventure (which actually started a lot of this) to the Rider Down foundation

We are enclosing the picture we took of Jakob in December. As you can see he looks great and is full of energy (mom can attest to that). Thanks again for all you’ve done for us!
Wishing you a prosperous 2007,

Chris, Gloria, Adam, Karl, Jakob, & Alex Schneller

Here's an update from the Schneller's............

Hi,

It has been ages since I have written as it has been almost 2.5 years since Jake's heart transplant. For my wife, Gloria, and I this has been the year of catching our breath and getting back to our "normal abnormal" life as we call it.

Jake is doing well and we call it a good year, despite 1 rejection episode, 1 false-positive test (everything pointed to another rejection but the heart procedure results were negative), strep in September, and back in the hospital over Halloween with pneumonia.

We celebrated Jake's 7th birthday yesterday and he gets to camp overnight at the natural history museum this weekend. He played Little League baseball this spring and AYSO soccer this fall, although he would rather socialize than compete... He is in cub scouts and enjoys it, getting 2nd out of 11 kids in a local Scout Space Derby. He enjoys drawing dinosaurs, as well as printing them off the computer, and cutting them out to play with.

His older brother, Karl, 9 yrs, still rides although he outgrew his XR70 in what feels like 5 seconds. He'll have a borrowed friends' TTR 125 for next spring (that my friend's daughter outgrew).

His oldest brother, Adam, joined the Navy this summer and is progressing really well towards becoming a Marine corpsman. His younger wild brother, Alex, 4, never lets Jake feel sorry for himself and will jump on him even when he's in the hospital, although he is careful around his IV's.

If someone wants to post this & the pictures at KTMTalk and/or RiderDown it sure would be appreciated. We still are very grateful for all everyone has done for us and your thoughts & prayers are always welcome. We wish everyone reading this peace & love this holiday season and throughout 2009.

Sincerely,

Chris & Gloria Schneller
