WIN A LEATT-BRACE™

http://www.riderdown.org/images/image001.gif

In recent motocross history, neck injury occurrences have been increasing at an exponential rate.

If spinal injuries like those suffered by James Marshall and Ernesto Fonseca in 2006 haven't motivated you to rethink your safety and your safety gear, what will?

Maybe seeing semi-gods Ricky Carmichael and Jeremy McGrath also dodge a disaster and having close calls this past year did?

Or to really convince you, do we need to display the fate of the dozens of other less-known fallen riders?

David Bailey's Full Circle Foundation and ONE Industries have teamed up to start a pro-active program which will help increase awareness in cervical protection. They have decided together to use proceeds from its "Dream Team - David Bailey Maggiora 1986 MXDN DVD" sales, and purchase 100 sets of Leatt-brace™ and distribute those free of charge to 100 lucky winners of a contest.

"The concept is simple!" said Ludo Boinnard of ONE Industries. "We can keep doing fundraisers over and over or we can start getting people to use this revolutionary device right now! If you break your back, and lose usage of your legs, you can still have a pretty active life. Look at successful people like PRO-CIRCUIT boss Mitch Payton, Formula ONE team owner Frank Williams just to name a few....

On the other hand if you break your neck and also lose usage of your arms, not only does your life come to a screeching standby, but everybody's lives around you are changed forever as they have to care for you for the rest of your life. Using this brace greatly reduces such risk.

We just hope those first 100 braces will have saved riders and their families from such horrible fate. Unfortunately, in our sport, it's not IF YOU WILL CRASH but WHEN YOU WILL CRASH!. Believe me, I've had my share of those!" added Ludo.

To enter the contest and win your own LEATT-BRACE™, log on http://www.oneindustries.com/win_a_leattbrace (no purchase necessary/ winners chosen at ONE Industries' discretion) fill the questionnaire and see the drawing results march 1st 2007.

If any questions or comments, you may email to davidbailey-1986@oneindustries.com .

I am very excited to have won one of these braces. I was talking about the product yesterday in the pits after our race. I really am looking forward to getting it and testing it while riding in the woods.

Macho:

I know Stewart very well. We rode enduros for years together, but we are not related. He is quite a character and a good guy. I was there the day he hurt his foot. He is now riding Harley's and doing his music gig. He does like to come out and help set up our enduro course each year, but that is about it.

Hey, I got it yesterday.

It fits great and I just had to go for a ride this morning. I rode for about an hour and after about a half hour I forgot it was there. I was concerned because many people had tested it for MX, but I have not seen a woods riding test. I found it to be a non issue. I can look where I want to look even when approaching a steep hill.

I do wear a Moose XCR chest protector, and it fits over it perfectly. The only problem is that I can not lift my arms over my head. It was not an issue while riding, but I may look into fixing that.

I will practice with it this week and then ride my first race the weekend of March 31, April 1.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Shawn

Any chance of getting a pic of you with the brace on? I know when I tested the brace, the rep was actually trimming some of the shoulders on various chest protectors.

I will get pics ASAP.

Char: When you say trimming shoulders, do you mean along the neck, or outside on the end of the shoulder protection?

He was trimming on the inside, along the neck. I guess so that the brace would fit there better. I should have paid more attention to the chest protector I borrowed to see how/if it had been modified.

Shawn - it appeared to be a simple process of trying both pieces (Brace & Chest Protector) on then using a marker to out line where (if it all) the CP would bind or catch on the brace. Then he removed any foam padding from the CP neck area & used a Dremel to cut/remove the necessary amount of plastic then used some SuperGlue and re-applied the foam. Pretty quick & easy. They really do need to release a quick video of proper fitment and sizing techniques, but I guess the company has had bigger issues.

There were a couple of CP's on the market already that they said worked really well "as is" with the brace (help me out here Char & David), pretty sure it was the EVS 4 and the 661. The new HRP that Kyle mentions is obviously targeted at this market and looks real nice.

Leatt Corporation Adds Instructional Video
- press release -

The Leatt Corporation is excited to announce that there is now an instructional video available to aid Leatt customers in fitting the brace properly.

Proper fitment of the brace and chest protector is an important part of making the brace comfortable to the rider. The instructional video starts by showing how to fit the brace to the riders body. From there the video gives an outline of how a rider could adjust his chest protector to fit the brace. There is also a section on wearing it with the supplied strap.

Jason McCune of Leatt Brace says this: There are many ways to wear the Leatt Brace. As we have fit many, many riders personally, we have found that each rider has different needs. We came up with the idea for an instructional video to aid any rider, pro or beginner, to get to that comfort level as quickly as possible.

Please log on to www.leatt-brace.com to find the fitment video. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at 800.691.3314. One of our trained staff will be able to assist you with any questions you may have.
