While of course I think it should be more like 300,000 members who are actively supporting RiderDown & "Helping Riders Up" it is pretty exciting that we are at this point in our growth curve!
So....when will we hit #300?
Take a guess - prizes yet to be determined!

C'mon Macho - spill the beans.........
How about for 500th member that signs up we send some Anti Monkey Butt Powder?
BTW - that powder is actually a great product that really works! The Company that makes it has been one of our Sponsors for a while now and they are growing their distribution channels rapidly. It works great for long days in the saddle (horse or bike - especially that brick that comes stock on KTM's) or in a wheelchair, long haul truckers, etc... Really.

I have some of that monkey butt powder...Mr Berg gave it to me as a joke. I haven't tried it yet though...I think monkey butt is a man thing. DOH!
BTW...that thing KTM calls a seat is really an effort to get their riders to stand more. A slab of concrete would be more comfortable.

Well - it's time to push for a new goal. How about we shoot for 1000 members? Do you think there's 1000 riders on this planet that care about their fellow riders enough to find this website and sign up on the forum? Maybe, maybe not but it sure would be nice to draw on a larger pool of folks for support when someone goes down and needs our help. I think more potential sponsors would take notice as well and make our job a bit easier in that regard also.
Who has some ideas of how to get people to visit and register here at www.riderdown.org? What can we do to overcome the idea that this forum is all sadness and bad news (doom & gloom) and let the sport know that it has a positive side? :? :bgutair:

Funny that you mention ways to increase the membership number. I started a list last night of possible ways to do just that. I'm about half-done with it and I'll try to wrap it up by Sunday afternoon. You'll have to bear with me, I'm a total NEWBIE to RDF and some of the stuff I've got may have been done already or dismissed for very good reasons. Nonetheless, I'll toss the list out there. Perhaps something might stick!
MORE MEMBERS = MORE GREAT FOLKS DOING GREAT THINGS!

In a word - COLOR
In more than a word - People are visual. Men have fewer color receptors in our eyes than women. Advertisers know this and use color to sell men stuff. We are drawn in by bright rich color. There is a reason Honda is bright RED... Yamaha is bright BLUE... Kawi = bright GREEN... Suzuki = bright YELLOW... and of course KTM is bright ORANGE and the best marketeer in the bike business. No one pays more money and spends more on bling than a KTM owner !
We need to take a lesson from these companies. They are all selling something very successfully to our target audience. And when we put our selves online... or at an event... and we are sitting next to booths selling bright colored flags, helmets, t-shirts, tie downs, etc we need to DRAW PEOPLE in with COLOR. Then we need to keep their attention with fun attitudes and fun bling that they wanna use and wear. We need to lighten the subject matter dramatically and make people feel good about talking about it... and not have them walk away feeling like they just did 15 minutes holding back a yawn while trying to get a peek out of the corner of their eye for the ice cream vendor.
I suspect that most of us come here because we know someone or are close to someone that has been hurt or worse. I suspect that we do it because we feel just a tid bit better sharing with those that understand how we feel. We of course want to help. But this may not be relevant to the masses in the sport that we would like to get involved as they've never experienced what we have.
DoGOODERism can be fun too ! We just need to figure out how to convey that on our site.... in our RDF paraphernalia... and at our events. I truly believe it starts with color and ends with fun. The deeper meaning will come to them later.

We all know that's a tall order given the nature of the RDF Forum......However......
Every single post from Jeff Bolt pertaining to Jim Riley has had an uplifting positive effect on me personally.
Jeff is recording the transition from tragedy to recovery with such real emotion that's it's impossible to read any of the posts without coming away feeling better than before you logged on.
This comment is no reflection on any other of the wonderful people here at RDF, the work being done is amazing.
I'm simply singling out Jeff as an example of great posting. Yeah, I may be a little influenced because he let me ride his bike all over the Mojave Desert for a weekend and fed me and treated me like family.....But he'd do the same for you in a heart beat, I know it.
Jeff.....Keep up the great work you're doing on behalf of Jim Riley and his
family.
Loved the picture of Yolanda and the girls at Catalina by the way.....
I got a card from the Rileys the other day, it was really touching.
