Hello folks I am new here. I was able to meet Bruce and race with him in Texas a few weeks ago. Boy did we have a blast pushing eachother during our races.
I told him I would stop by and sign up so here I am.
Now the bad news. We had a rider get injured very bad this past weekend at our D-37 desert race. Broken back and other bones. He was airlifted from the race in major pain. As the week has gone along we find out he was self employed with no medical insurance and no gap or disability insurance. He isn't paralyzed but had surgery to help repair the injuries on Monday. He has a wife and kids that depend on him. What do they need to do to apply for help?
Thank You,
Dane Evans

Dane - way to make an intro!! It was great meeting and racing with you - wait 'til next year! I'm glad you made it over here to RiderDown - welcome. We can use the support of good desert racers like yourself.
I'm very sorry to hear about your local rider and the situation he is in. Please direct him or his wife to the tab at the top of our Home Page. There they will find an Injured Rider Intake form which they can fill out and submit online. There are a number of possibilities for assistance.
Stay in touch Dane! !=!

Dane – Welcome to the RiderDown Foundation and thank you for bringing an injured rider to our attention, that’s what we are all about.
Please try to make sure that the D-37 rider that broke his back without insurance takes the time to fill out the injured rider intake form that Tatonka mentioned. It sounds like he would be a good fit with one of our sponsors called American Medical Bill Review, known as AMBR. They review medical bills for errors such as duplications, over billing, etc. We have saved families thousands of dollars with this process. Prior to the bill review there are some other bill paying strategies that need to be shared with the family, so we will make sure we respond quickly once contacted.
Once again welcome to RiderDown,
David

Welcome Dane! Glad to have you here!
Sorry to here about the injured rider you mentioned. I hope the family can fill out an intake form so we can help them. As David mentioned AMBR can be very helpful for those who don't have insurance companies checking on thier medical charges.
