It is with great sadness that I bring the news that Scott Hermance (#799 in the +40 novice class) has died tonight as a result of the injuries he suffered at Walden on Sunday.
As you may have seen from an earlier note tonight from his oldest daughter, his condition was thought to be improving.
Scott was a great guy who was always willing to help anyone who needed it. If he had finished Sunday's race like he normally did, he would have earned enough points to move up to the amateur class that day.
Scott didn't have the latest and greatest equipment - he rode a 1997 Kawasaki, but he had a lot of fun racing and watching his 9 year old son Kyle and his 11 year old daughter Kelley race.
Last winter he worked night after night converting an old school bus into the "Moto Mansion" which he was quite proud of when it was completed.
I hope the motocross community can come together to help his family in their time of need.
