RiderDown Foundation and American Medical Bill Review (AMBR) to the rescue- These two organizations came together to help an injured amateur GNCC rider, Michael Head, and his family in their time of need. Michael broke his leg badly at the GNCC race held in GA back in March. With a long recovery ahead of him, lost time at work and medical bills piling up at an incredible rate, they sought and found help through www.RiderDown.org. The RiderDown Foundation provided the logistical help to gather all the necessary information and have it delivered into the hands of one of its main sponsors, AMBR. After reviewing medical bills in excess of $21,000 AMBR was able to work with the health care providers and renegotiate these medical bills for a savings to the Heads of over $12,000. That’s a 58 percent reduction from the originally billed amount! Linda Head, Michael’s wife, has been on the front lines dealing with the medical bills and healthcare providers while her husband deals with the day to day healing and rehab process. Linda says, “If it wasn’t for the help of the RiderDown Foundation and AMBR, I don’t know what we would have done with all the medical bills. They are very hard to understand with all the medical terms and billing codes, not to mention that the total amount owed was so far beyond our ability to pay.
