David Kott, 41, has been a good neighbor and an active member of
the Stillwater community for over ten years. His entrepreneurial spirit led
him to open a small plumbing business and he supports the community
by employing local people. David is an avid bird watcher, and a remarkable example of a human living life consciously. Over the years, those of us who know Dave have watched and admired his unwavering spiritual growth and involvement in his Stillwater neighborhood.
He is also passionate about motocross.

However, on May 27th Dave fractured his neck during a motocross ride
and, as a result of this accident is now paralyzed from his chest down.
His life is forever changed.

Dave is currently receiving medical attention at the Mayo Clinic, where
he has stabilized physically. In August, he will be moving to the
Courage Center in Golden Valley where his six-month rehabilitation and
the adjustment to his new life will begin. His challenges will be many:
physical, emotional and financial. These tremendous challenges will
require all of Dave’s inner strength and courage. They will also require
the assistance, generosity and love of others to help him accept and
adjust to these new challenges in his life.

I am very sorry to hear about Dave, he sounds like a heck of a guy facing a difficult adjustment. Please let him know that everyone here will be pulling for him and his successful rehab at the Courage Center.

We are working on some ideas to offer more support to SCI & paralysis victims - if you have any suggestions or thoughts on this please let us know. We want this forum to be a positive, stimulating and educational resource for everyone. However, we do understand that there are issues that only a relative few will be able to identify with. Hopefully we can help provide that connection.

Keep us updated on Dave's progress.

Take care,

BV

We will be praying for David's recovery and successful rehab. We know all too well how difficult it is to be riding one night and things being changed forever in a split second. It's good to hear that he is able to go into rehab so soon. Best wishes and blessings to David.

Last week we held a benefit for Dave and it was a HUGE success. The folks at St. Croix Boat and Packet donated a 3 hour riverboat cruise complete with dinner for all. Over 700 tickets were sold and the boat was PACKED with well-wishers. A silent auction was held with over 50 items. Although I don't know the total dollar amount from the auction, I can say that every item I saw went for over the retail amount. It just goes to show the compassion and generosity people have in a situation like this. !=!

Dave's motocross club, the Straight Arrows, will be holding an AMA sanctioned motocross race on Sept. 24 and will be donating ALL proceeds to the David Kott benefit fund. We can only hope for a portion of the success of the riverboat cruise.

That is great news. It is amazing how people step up when they see someone in need.

I would like to contact Dave and see if we can also help. Let me know if we can get that contact information.

Thanks.
