Poulsbo, WA

Well after 4 years of riding dirt bikes, over a year and half of racing our son Caleb has had his first serious injury. Caleb was practicing and had a run in with another 50 rider and they both went down. Other little guy took a hard hit and a big chunk out of his leg and Caleb took the brunt of his impact with his leg and as a result broke both bones in his ankle at the growth plates. He had surgery last night and the Doctor put in 2 pins and a screw. He does have severe swelling and so we are keeping him down and elevated 24/7 and icing very frequently.

Caleb is pretty bummed since he was planning on racing in Phoenix he even asked the Doctor if he would be ready by then. I'ts tough seeing your little one hurt and just laying around.

Sorry to hear about Caleb's injury. The poor kid must be in some decent pain and pretty bummed.

PM me with your full name and address or post the injury at the RiderDown forum HERE and will get him a few things off in the mail.

Caleb, hang in there and be strong and you'll be better in no time.

All the best,

Joe

We just wanted to send our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Riderdown.org for your kindness and generosity that you have shown our son Caleb.

Caleb is doing pretty well in his recovery so far. He got his cast off breifly, began therapy which aggravated the pin in his ankle to the point it broke through the skin. The cast was put back on for one more week and now the pin will come out at the same time the cast comes off. The other pin and screw will stay for a few more months.

We just have the utmost respect for what riderdown.org does and God has placed it on our hearts to find a way to help support this organization in the near future as soon as we are in a better position to do so.

Thanks and God bless!

Caleb - keep up the good work! You should tell the Doc he needs to use the "red" loctite on your pins to keep them in place!

We're thinking of ya!!

Caleb says;
"Thanks for saying nice things to me everyone. I really like the backpack Joe, and I really like playing the game when my mom isn't making me read and do homework. I'm gonna tell the Doctor he should have used loctite too."

Hi Caleb,

Thank you very much for that very nice thank you note. I loved the art work of you riding on the card and I'm going to put your sticker on the back window of my pick up truck. I couldn't believe how well you print, it's better than my printing.

I'm glad you enjoyed everything and maybe when you're grown up and famous I'll be able to get your autograph.

I hope your back to riding soon. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Your Friend,

Joe

Hi Caleb,

I was thinking about you today and was wondering how you were doing?

I hope everything is going good with your healing and that the locktite is holding up well.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Joe,

It's Kerry, Caleb is doing awesome! He saw the Doctor yesterday and got the Okay to start riding again, he actually went out for a little ride on Sunday and did well and rode again today for over an hour straight just doing laps, practicing his turns and standing and just getting a feel for his bike again. He worked really hard through his physical therapy and it has really paid off. He will still need to have his screw removed in the near future but for now he's ready to ride and race!

Hope all is well with you, take care

Kerry
