My name is Austin Davidson and I am 9 years old and I broke two bones in my left leg Thursday August 25,05 while over jumping a step up at a pratice track on my CR-85.I'm in a full leg cast, and my Doctor said I shouldn't be out for more than 3 months.

It was a step up that turned into a table top and the 1st time I jumped it, I landed almost perfect and was ready to do it again. But the 2nd time, I hit it way to fast and it launched me way to high and I landed 30' ( my dad walked it off) past the decending part of the table top. I did'nt wreck, I did land it, but I had to pull over because of the unreal pain i was in. My dad thought that I had just sprained it not being able to walk on it, but the next day, I could'nt walk on it and we had X-Rayed.Broke both bones above the ankle. Something called a compression exit break, from the downward force of the landing.

This is Mike, Austins dad,and I want to thank all that has responded and wished Austin a quick healing process and we will be back riding/racing when he is ready.

Austin broke the tibia and the fibula just above the ankle wearing Alpinestar Tech 4s boots.

My wife the R.N.C explains it as, the fracture in the tibia/fibula is complete, and is slightly displaced. There was a consideration of surgery to realine the bones with pins and a plate, but at Austins age (9), they believe it (should) be able to heal naturally with a full leg cast. The Doctors stated that this break was bad, and they don't understand how a flat landing could have caused this break, and for it to shift forward.

My wife and I will make the what calls we have to tomorrow, so we can show the X Rays to you all.

I was in disbelief when Holly called to say he had broken both bones completely through and for the foot to shift forward. The landing was hard, but he weights 100 lbs. on a bike set up for him, but also has a maximum rider weight of 150 lbs. and I see people over jump landings on a regular basis, with out anything breaking. I assumed it was just a sprain and I had no idea it would turn out the way it did.

Hey you guys, I'm doing fine. I'm having a good time, the doctor, said I couldn't break my cast, well it's broke.
I can't wait to get back riding again. The first thing I have to do, is hit that jump as soon as I'm able. It was a small error with a big out come. I have to over come my mistake. I'm sure you all understand.

Thanks for the replies, and I'll keep in touch.

This Austins dad again wanting to Thank You, for the orange gift that he received todayin the mail. It is very touching that someone cares enough to go out of there way to reach out for an injured person, and especially a child. He can't wait to wear it the first day of school.

It arrived today, it is an awesome game and graphics are fine. He put the sticker on his helmet for all to see and is wearing the braclet. Man, you guys go to town.

This is a foundation that Austin and I, will definitely be a yearly comtributer too. I can't say that I've ever seen anyone do so much w/o asking for anything in return.

He's excited that he might be able to ride Saturday (weather) for the 1st time in 3 1/2 months, and he's had the ktm 65 for over 2 weeks and he has'nt gotten it out of 2nd gear. So, let em roll. Safely, with the wheels on the ground for a while atleast.

Thanks, Rider Down for all you did for him and me.
