Just found out about the site from a very supportive family friend. Jeremy is my 17-year-old son who overshot a jump at a local motocross park last July 20 and shattered C5/C6, and had a fusion from C4-C7. He went through so many of the same things that I've been reading on the site -- pneumonia, chest tubes, staph infections, vent problems, etc. He was in Dallas for four months and we finally got to come home late November 2005. Doctors did prepare us for the worse but since we've been home, things are improving slowly. Jeremy had his trach and feeding tube removed and is slowly gaining weight. Although he still doesn't have movement from his chest down, sensation is improving. He still is unable to move his fingers, but can move his wrists and his weak triceps are getting stronger also. He has kept up all of his school work and is hoping to graduate with his class in 2007. We would just like to be an encouragement to everyone who has been injured and Jeremy has not given up his love for speed. He has friends who are planning on helping him design a quad-friendly dune buggy for when he's able. Blessings to all.

Your son sounds like a very strong person who has a wonderful and productive life ahead of him, we wish him and your family all the best.
Thanks for joining in you will be of great assistance to people who feel so overwhelmed with it all.

Jeremy and Mom:
Thank you for sharing your story. As you now know, attitude is everything while going through a rehabilitation process. You both seem to have an amazing attitude.
I was wondering if you would be willing to allow me to stop by for a visit. I promise to only take a short time, but I would love to talk to both of you. I am in West Texas on a regular basis. My Daughter and son in law live up in Lubbock along with my two grand kids.
I am working on a project that I think you could hlep me with. You can email me directly if you would rather not. I would also like to know who Jeremys favorite pro rider is.
You can email me at shall@riderdown.org
Thanks,
Shawn

Hey Jeremy - sorry to hear about your crash, I hope you're recovery is still going well. I'm psyched to hear you plan on graduating with your class and that you still have that need for speed! ;-)
I also want to say a special thank you for reaching out to others the way you have. I have spoken with HardKor from this forum and can say (if you had any doubt) that you really touched his Dad and their family. Thank You!
