Hello everyone, well we are at the one week mark today before we leave for Germany.. We are both going through emotions right now; both a little nervous and anxious. We have everything ready to go, but got bad news 2 days ago.
We were doing all right until yesterday when we had two pieces of news that I wish could have, would have waited until we returned. The first part was Amanda received a letter from Renown Medical Centers Worker Comp Dept that they will no longer cover her work knee injury as of the 17th. Those of us that can do math noticed it came 2 days after the 17th and they demanded her back to full duty without restrictions immediately. They decided that her knee injury was already there and therefore this claim was made fraudulently and this will be on her record for future employment. Physical Therapy said that what she has now will be all she gets back. When we explained to these morons that her leg was working for her at the point she could walk, bend and stand when she started (even noted on her pre-employment testing), now it will give way just standing; she can’t even walk anymore without fear that it will give way and she will fall.
Hmmm, this is great as the Orthopedic Surgeon we had an appointment with later that day said Amanda is nowhere near ready to start work even on light duty restriction. He needs to do surgery a.s.a.p. to remove damaged cartilage also try to tighten the muscles, this will require more P.T. that we will have to pay for out of pocket. To make things worse, he told us that Renown has an extremely high legal budget and they will run this out for years. We have already sent paperwork in to fight this, but her Doc feels it is a waste of time as they will just play with her until she gives up. As far as reporting back to full time, full duty employment as requested in the letter, it will be just to terminate her as they said they would at the start of all of this.
As I sit here reading through what I have just typed, I find myself shaking my head wondering what is next?? How can this be resolved when they hired her and now they say they should never have?? How can she ever find another job when this is on her record?? And most of all, how do these people sleep at night knowing what they did to her is unjust and a complete lie? All this kid wants to do is work; she is embarrassed to be on Workers Comp and Disability. What now???
