Hello. My name is Robert and I came across rdf while doing some searching on the web. I've been stuck reading others stories ever since. Each time I read one I remember how lucky I am.* On December 27th 2009, I took my family out for a day in the desert. Started out great as always but ended up being one of the worst days of my life. Where we ride there is a track back in the desert that we usually ride to and let the kids practice. While we were there I came down way wrong on a double and knew I broke something in my leg.* We were a good 4-6 miles away from the truck so my boys helped me up, rolled my sons cr85 under me and away I went back to the truck. By the time we got there the numbness had turned into an excruciating pain. I ended up in the hospital for 5 days after I found out I had broke my femur. I sheared off 70% of the base right at the knee. Here comes the kicker, I have had medical insurance through my wifes work for the last 6 years and NEVER needed it. She was laid off 6 weeks before this happened so I'm now stuck with a $91,000*hospital bill. Due to no insurance I was unable to recieve physical therapy so I've been trying to do it on my own. Seems to be getting better but still very sore. Thanks for listening and thanks for your support RDF.

Hi Robert, sorry to hear about your crash. I know from personal experience that breaking a femur is no fun. Honestly my PT counseling was minimal and it seems like most of the exercises can be researched online and done at home. Sure is easy to rack up a huge medical bill in a short time, that really sucks about the timing of your medical insurance lapse. Have you had any success in negotiating with the providers?

Thankyou, I'm happy to hear that there's not much else to PT then the exercises. I haven't had any luck with the providers at all. I've been getting the cold shoulder from everyone except the bk attorney I spoke with. Go figure. I'm feeling pretty good now so I'm smiling. Lesson learned, don't ride with out knee braces!
