We lost our oldest son, Joshua David Amstutz, on September 23, 2007. It was a most beautiful Autumn day, Josh was riding his motorcycle on his way home. Only a couple miles from home..., a truck made a left turn pulling into Josh's path. Josh was planning a trip to Deal's Gap that next weekend, as he went every Spring & Fall of the year.
Josh loved his life and lived it to the fullest. He was 22 years old. God, family & friends were of most importance to Josh. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. Josh was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend. He had quite the social life. Josh loved the Country Life and anything to do with spending time with "all of his friends..." Josh knew how to have fun and was a character at that!! He found enjoyment in music,
motocross, motorcycling, his pick up truck, and his year old pup, Zoe. Josh was an avid motorcyclist. Great family memories are snowmobiling and spending time at the lake. He worked as an apprentice in the family owned Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Business. Josh had restored a couple of tractors and was in the process of restoring an old boat. In what little time we had with Josh, he touched so many hearts... We are thankful for the memories!! Josh gave of himself 100% and him being a donor was no different. He lives forever in our hearts and it gives us peace of mind that he lives on with helping others as he always did.
We love you, Josh, and you are greatly missed,
Dad, Mom, Matt & Amanda
On September 26, 2009 we had our 1st Annual Josh Amstutz Memorial Poker Run. Sponsors were: Redline Honda, Dicky's Wild Hare, Local Industries & JMA Mechanical, Inc. The money from that day is being donated today (December 29, 2009), to the RiderDown Foundation. ($616.00)
Rest in Peace, Joshua David Amstutz, November 25, 1984 - September 23, 2007.

Michelle, we received your generous donation and want to say thank you to everyone involved in the 1st Annual Josh Amstutz Memorial Poker Run. What a wonderful gesture to continue the spirit of life and giving to others that it sounds like Josh embraced. Our condolences go out to your family and all of Josh's friends.

Mrs. Amstutz,
First let me say that I am sorry for your loss. I know that Joshua will "live forever" in your heart. I too lost my son on September 22, 2002. I know what you folks are going through. If you ever would like to speak with me, or my wife, PM with your contact information and Suzette or I will contact you.
Together, we who have buried one of our children find a way to "move on" - as the pain does not leave us, but we learn to live with it.
Sincerely,
Mike Berg

Mike Berg -"Motodad393",
"THANK YOU" for contacting us!! We really appreciate it!! It is nice (but obviously not for the reason), to know other parent's that know how this feels... Thank you for the offer to speak with you & your wife.
We are sorry for loss of your son, Garrett - "Motoman 393." Our sons DO "live forever" in our hearts!! That's the only thing that gets me through sometimes...
Exactly what we are hearing, the pain is ongoing..., you just somehow learn to "cope" with it. Some days are better than others. (So you are going through the same rotation of seasons that we are also losing your son also in September) That's something they are just a day apart from each other!! I used to LOVE Autumn, but not so much anymore. Sunday afternoons/evenings are constant reminders too. Really "everything" we do & "everywhere" we go are memories of Josh!!!!!!!!
We are in a Group called Compassionate Friends that has been a huge support to us.

The second annual Josh Amstutz Memorial Ride was held on Saturday, September 26, 2010. Registration took place at Redline Honda. The first stop on the route was at the cemetery where approximately 50 riders paid their respects to Josh. It was a touching tribute! Next, it was on to the Shady Nook where Josh enjoyed going when at the lake. There were a total of seven stops along the way, including the Tri-State Motorcycle Club and the Spencerville Covered Bridge.
Everyone met at Dicky's Wild Hare toward evening where prizes were given. The proceeds have been donated to RiderDown Foundation ($560.00). Thank you to all participants and sponsors... Redline Honda, Dicky's Wild Hare and SPP. We thank those of you that made donations for the prizes.
We are looking forward to next year's ride. Although Josh may be gone, he's not forgotten ~ 11/25/84 ~ 9/23/07.

Dear Michelle,
I appreciate your response and I do know how you feel. For me, it has been 436 weeks and 5 days since my son died. The feeling never leaves, but somehow we adjust and learn to live with the loss. It is hard to explain. I cherish the memories, but sometimes the 'emptiness' that remains still haunts me. It helps to talk with other parents who experience the same feelings. Thankfully, I began to ride out in the country on a road bike a couple years ago. It has helped me emensley.
Yes, we have attended the Compassionate Friends group in our community and it does help. My wife enjoys it more than I do, cause there are times I do not want to go back to that final day. We do attend the annual balloon release of Compassionate Friends with the names of our fallen children inside.
Hang in there and if you ever want to contact me you may email me at Motodad393@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Mike Berg
