A 34-year race veteran, Gallagher achievements include being a GNCC “Senior” and “Super-Senior” class champion for five consecutive years, the only “Super Senior” rider to podium in the a.m.

GNCC National and ATVA’s Vet/Senior Rider of the Year. For the 2007 season, Gallagher raced the Polaris Outlaw with great success, once again topping the “Super Senior” class. Gallagher says he races to “stay young,”

Borrowed from RacerX's Racerhead #51...........

Here’s Jason Weigandt…

First off, my sympathies to the family of John Gallagher Sr. a GNCC racer who Ohio who lost his life in a work-related accident earlier this week (and note, this is not the same John Gallagher who manages the Monster Energy Supercross Series for the FIM). John Gallagher was the ultimate GNCC racer, he started racing the events when they started 35 years ago and often raced both bikes and ATVs on the same weekend because he loved it so much. He raised his son, John Jr. to become one of today’s top GNCC ATV pros, and John Sr. was still a contender himself, winning the GNCC 50+ Championship in 2008, even though he was 62 years old at the time! He finished third in the class in 2009 and would have certainly been back again next year. This afternoon, I’ll be jumping in the truck with DC and GNCC Trail Boss Jeff Russell to head to the viewing, the rest of the Coombs family and other GNCC staffers will be there as well. Things aren’t going to be the same without having John to spar with on the phone about GNCC rules and ideas. He was a tough, stubborn old racer, for sure, and I’m sure he’s already tearing it up again right now.

Mark, that's a nice gesture. I'm not sure of his number. Hopefully someone can help us out?

Somehow I missed this edition of GNCC's Quick Fill. Here's a link to the whole article: http://www.gnccracing.com/articles/1852_quick-fill-50-farewell-to-john
