Here is a link to Jean Turner's excellent article in Cycle News. This is only Part 1 but it is an excellent summary and review of what I consider to be an extremely important topic in our sport. Huge thanks to Jean and the staff at CN for doing this! Give them a big thank you and subscribe to the mag!

Should be required reading for everyone throwing a leg over the seat!

I just wrote this little blurb for Leatt on Facebook and thought I'd add it here as well....
As President of RiderDown.org (which is a dealer for Leatt as a part of our ongoing fundraising efforts) I see and hear more than my fair share of injury reports. I can't even begin to tell you how often I hear that "my Leatt did it's job" story. Well, 5 weeks ago this morning on a ride in baja, Mexico I took a pretty decent crash that tore up my shoulder pretty good, busted my left scapula, 4 ribs and displaced my clavicle and bruised the sternum. Had a slight concussion and mild case of whiplash. From what I can tell based on what others have described who witnessed the crash, the damage to the helmet (which I landed on first) and the bike which endo-ed violently with me still on board....my Leatt did it's job! The rear wing is busted and in need of replacement but that's the beauty of the story! I am in good enough condition to be considering replacement parts for my gear instead of selling everything and not being able to continue with the sport I love. Thank You!!

Wow, Bruce. You didn't tell me that you broke your Leatt!
To be honest, I've been going back and forth on wearing mine. It's very rare that I get over 30mph here in the tight woods. I was having a lot of issues with it moving, getting caught on branches, and impeding my ability to turn my head enough on tight corners. My opinion was that for these reasons it was actually adding to the danger factor for me. I'm going to try it again to see if I can resolve or at least improve these issues.
