Hey Gang! I know it's been awhile. I'm sort of hit and miss online and have spent alot of time in "recovery mode." I feeling better now and thought I'd drop in and fill you all in on the experience. If you'd like to learn a little about me, check out my web site, riderminus.com.

Last year, I was fortunate enough to get a ride for my bike to LA and my son, Reagen, and I flew out. Things didn't work out that way this year, so 4 of us jumped in a crew cab Ford and set out for Cali. The trip was WAY too far. Almost 2,000 miles one way. We drove straight through to save on hotels and such and made it in 28 hours.

Of course, it was a heck of an experience, regardless of the race results.

Unfortunately, I injured my one and only knee 2-3 weeks before the games. I was practicing twice a day at the local mx track. I landed their biggest jump(@70 ft), which had a goofy double-humped landing. Since I ride with nothing on the left side, when the bike gave a little buck, I was simply set off the right side- 4th gear, 3/4 throttle. My MCL was torn, added to an already non-existant ACL. I also jammed my "stump" into the ground with enough force to bust a fragment off my femur.

Anyway, I hoped for the best and took it easy til X, hoping bracing and tapeing would hold. Well, no such luck. My first impact in practice, my top half moved freely over the bottom half of the knee...long story short, PAIN!

We sat in the gates for @ 45 minutes before the main, my knee was THROBBING. So, all I can say is I "I rode." I wouldn't dare call it racing, as evidenced by my 12th place finish. I don't ever etch anything in stone, but I don't see myself racing anymore SX/MX- including X Games. Not really my cup of tea, anyway.

Though I am still spending most of my time in a chair, I did attend a harescramble a couple weeks ago. I holeshotted and led til my first spill. After 2.5 laps, I put it on the trailer and went home as healthy as I arrived. It was a good day.

In conclusion, call me a full-time woods-only guy, again.

BTW, for trivia, I am VERY interested in the Trans America Trail. Who knows?

Any thoughts of how we could make the trek a RDF fund raiser?

I've gotta go for now, but I'll be checking back and mabe even get some pics put up.

Later!

Shane
