AC (Shoulder) Separation & Broken Ribs (Left side, #4 & 5 Backside)

I've gone through both of these injuries previously although they were not at the same time. So I'm curious what suggestions anyone might have for getting these injuries in the history books as quickly as possible. Also - any ideas on how not to cough, sneeze, laugh or breathe until the ribs heal?

Thanks,

BV

an xl ace bandage is the only thing that will somewhat help with the ridbs. The biggest thing right now is "Pain Management"..this means taking your medication AT THE SCHEDULED TIME, not when you need it because you're hurting...don't be the big, tough guy..take your drugs!

Bruce, I was thinking about this and a few more things that might help. Go get a Vitamin D supp from the local nutrition store. Vitamin D is necessary for proper calcium absorbtion and repair, however, when you are healed, you want to stop taking the vitamin D. That being said, load up on the calcium too. As far as healing goes, take a deep breath and hold it as long as you can. It will hurt like hell, but help you avoid getting Pneumonia.

Even if have all the pain Meds going ,make sure you fiber up.I'm serious, they dried me out..Get a paint ball gun, when your friends come buy to see you and they start to mess around just to make you laugh, shoot them. That will make you feel a little better. Good luck, i know it sucks sleeping on the recliner.

Thanks for all the suggestions and support. The ribs are actually calming down a bit and I'm able to move around quite a bit more. The Doc says I have good bones (for an old man)....:)
