Hi my name is Chrissy. I'm 29 & a late blommer in motocross. I am married with 2 kids, ages 9 & 6 who all ride/race too. I have only been doing motocross since August of 2008, but I have rode dirt bikes & 4 wheelers since I was 5. I have raced 3 times. I was preparing for my 4th race on January 17, 2009, when I injured my ACL. I was going over a jump on a YZ85, when my foot slipped off and rammed into the ground flat footed. I managed not to wreck. I had to go a month of some PT then I had surgery on Feb. 26, 2009. I had the hamstring graph procedure. Everything has gone good so far. My injury was just the ACL itself, everything else was still fine. No scar tissue or anything my doc says. I'm still not allowed to put any weight on it yet. I'll have 2-3 months more of PT then I should be almost 100% again, I hope! I have insurance through my work, including short term disability. But in the middle of my Dr. visits I find out that my insurance company & my Dr.'s office are in the middle of renegotiating contracts. So all my medical bills are on "hold". If they don't come to an agreement soon, I may have to pay more, if not all, out of pocket. If anyone was has some advise or would like to comment, I would greatly apprecitate it. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Chrissy - sorry to hear about the ACL, good luck with the rest of your PT. On a quick side note, it would be interesting to know how many adults (or people over age 13) are riding bikes like the YZ85. With them now being banned under the new "lead law" and even parts to maintain them being banned in this country you have to wonder!

Anyway, I'm certainly no expert in the field of medical law but it seems ridiculous that all of your bills would be put on hold and subject to whatever comes from "re-negotiations". What was the policy for coverage at the time you began work with this Dr. for this particular issue? What does your insurance agent say? Have you pushed it past the first level customer service person at the ins. company? Document every conversation you have with them!

Good luck with this and please keep us informed. Maybe someone else has advice in dealing with this scenario. We could all learn something here!

Thanks! I was just "test" riding the 85 when my injury happend. I usually ride a 125, since I'm short, it was hard for me to handle the 125. I kept laying it over when I came to a stop. The start is not so bad because I use blocks. I just thought the 85 would be better. Boy, was I wrong, LOL!!! Yeah, it is sad what their doing about the kids bikes. Our kids will continue to keep going until we no longer can. Hopefully the law will change soon. The thing about my insurance is kinda messed up. I went to the ER & all the other stuff was set up by my Dr's nurse. They didn't tell me anything about my insurance until everything was already done. I felt like they cornered me. I'm almost sure they will get that sorted out, if not I may have to take further action. I have full health insurance through First Care. In my booklet, it says that everything I have had done is covered. I'll keep everyone updated on this. Thanks!

if started treatment when the doc was in network, his office need to notify you in writing and give you the choice to continue treatment with them or go to in network doc...

in any case you can make minimal payments as good fate.... can send you to collection when make minimal payment.:thumb
