Help the 2009 RiderDown Team Race to Help Others!
The RiderDown Foundation is very excited to announce that for the 2009 Season Mr. Joel Plouffe will be the RDF Race Team Manager. Joel brings great enthusiasm, many excellent ideas and loads of experience to the position and we are very fortunate to have his energy and dedication behind the RiderDown Team.
We'd like to extend a very big thank you for all of the time and energy that Les Walker devoted to the RDF Team in 2008. Les did a remarkable job stepping into the position mid-stream and carrying the torch.
Stay tuned for more details on the 2009 RiderDown Team!
Read below for a few words from Joel:
I would like to personally thank the RDF Board for offering me the opportunity to be Team Manager for 2009. With great honor I accept. With my acceptance will come many changes in 2009. The new Team mission will be simple. All Team Riders will ride and race to help others. The RDF Team riders will be expected to achieve a goal....doing everything in their power to get to as many events and races across the country and raise as much awareness and funds as possible to help injured riders up! In order for our Team to succeed we will need to also get more sponsors on board to support the Team Riders so they can take advantage of every opportunity and make the largest impact possible. Please check our sponsorship proposal which will be coming out soon for further details. We need your help!
A little about me....
I have been riding all of my life, raced mainly Motocross but I have also raced Supercross in Giant Stadium 3 times, ridden the woods and trails, and my new found love is for riding in the desert. My wonderful wife Jennifer and I have 4 children, 3 of which ride, 2 of which race Motocross. We all eat, sleep, and breathe the sport. My family came across RiderDown in 2005 when my little brother at age 20, riding by my side crashed and was tragically killed in Big Bend Texas. This accident changed my life forever. The RiderDown family helped my family cope with this horrible tragedy. This really inspired me to give back to the sport I so dearly loved. After the accident I first contemplated giving up on motorcycles for ever. Then, inspired by the outpour of rider support, I decided shortly thereafter to buy a motor home with a 20 ft race trailer and told the wife and kids we are racing for "Mini Rocketman" aka my little brother Stevie who lost his life. My two boys, Bailey and Hudson also really wanted to Race for Team RiderDown. They wanted to race to help others. The boys signed on with the Team last year and did very well with racing, fundraising, etc. Now as Team Manager we have a new year ahead of us and lots of events already on the calender. Once I have the Team's riders together I will announce the names and more about the program. In the mean time please pass along the word as we are looking for 2009 RDF Race Team Sponsors.
Best regards,
Joel Plouffe

Go Joel.....
This is probably an unusual place to share this but what the heck!!!!
Your Mom and I are so proud of what you have done and continue doing for RDF in memory of Stevie.
You know how much riding meant to him and I'm sure he's watching and grinning from ear to ear every time you and his nephews race.
Top it all off with their superb performances at most races and it really is inspirational.
Again this year our Lost Trail Riders group should be able to raise more funds for RDF from our events in Texas. Maybe we can ear mark some $ specifically for the Race Team to help promote RDF.
Les thanks for your hard work and entertaining antics to date.....Keep on keeping on!

June 1, 2009 (Wortham, Texas) - Today is the last day to pre-register for the upcoming national weekend at Freestone County Raceway. Amateurs have two different tracks under two different environments to race under. First on Friday night, you will have the opportunity to compete under the best lighting known to amateur riders during the finale of the FMF North Texas Night Series combined with Round 2 of the Big Texas Summer Series. While there is no discount for the night racing, it is still a benefit to the Freestone staff to have your registration ready when you get there.
Then on Sunday, June 7th, riders will then hit the national track the day after the AMA Pro's finish ripping it up. The 3rd Annual AMA Amateur Day at Freestone will be as intense as riders prepare to compete on the demanding national track. There is a $5 discount to pre-register for the AMA Amateur Day.

Flagstar Bank Freestone Motocross National Returns for Third Year of Bar-Banging Action Deep in the Heart of Texas
MORGANTOWN, W.V.(May 14, 2009) - Since joining the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship schedule in 2007, the Flagstar Bank Freestone Motocross National has become one of the most highly anticipated and toughest races of the year. The event returns for its third season on Saturday, June 6 at Freestone Raceway in Wortham, Texas.
The sprawling, sandy layout of Freestone Raceway has lent itself to some of the most exciting racing of the past two seasons thanks to the dedication from promoter Tony Miller and his staff. The combination of a fast layout, loose dirt and the Texas sun provides a new challenge for the competitors, one that is a test of both rider and machine.
For 2009, Miller is accommodating the continued increase in popularity of the race by providing additional infield viewing areas. He has also added a technical element to the track with the inclusion of a tunnel jump. As fans make their way in and out of the infield, the world's fastest riders will be racing right over them.
Additionally, the Freestone Motocross National will partner with Flagstar Bank to serve as the title sponsor for the event. The event will officially be titled the Flagstar Bank Freestone Motocross National Presented by Yamaha, Berkey's Plumbing, and Kicker Audio.
A Midwest-based company, Flagstar Bank is one of the largest financial institutions in providing residential mortgages throughout the country. The company also provides banking services for customers in Michigan, Indiana and Georgia.
"We are excited about the opportunity to serve as the title sponsor of the Freestone event and become a part of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship," said Vice President of Correspondent Lending Michael Baker. "This serves as a great opportunity at exposure for Flagstar. Tony Miller has produced one of the finest facilities in the country and there is no doubt that the national on June 6 will be a memorable experience for everyone involved."
Last season, the Freestone Motocross National proved to be a true test of endurance and will as the world's best riders battled it out on the perfectly prepped layout and under the notorious Texas sun. Eventual champions James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto both overcame some tough starts and bits of adversity to rise to the occasion and triumph over their competitors in some of the most exciting action of the 2008 championship.

Tickets are now on sale for Round 3 (June 6, 2009) of the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Championship at Freestone County Raceway. Go to www.FreestoneMX.com to make your plans today to attend. A lot of changes are in store for 2009, so please read below to get yourself up to speed.
An all new schedule for the "Outdoor Nationals" is in store for 2009. The Freestone National will host three days of racing. The biggest change is the national itself. Every national round of the AMA Motocross Championship will host practice, qualifying and the full moto's for all classes on Saturday. The AMA Amateur Day event will now be all in one day on Sunday (June 7th).
For the Freestone national weekend, the gates open on Friday (June 5th) at 12:00pm Noon for Campers. That same night on Friday will be the finale of the 10th Annual North Texas Night Series and Round 2 of the Big Texas Summer Series. Then on Saturday (June 6th) the Pro's hit the track. The gates will open on Saturday at 7:00am with the Pit Party starting at 9:00am. The AMA Pro's first practice will be at 8:30am. Once practice and qualifying are complete, opening ceremonies will start at 12:30pm with the first moto's beginning at 1:00pm. Returning in 2009 will be the addition of the Women's Pro. The amateurs will complete the weekend on the same national track on Sunday, June 7th for the AMA Amateur Day.
In an effort to encourage more attendance for the Texas fans, ticket prices for children ages 6-12 have been lowered for the 2009 Freestone national. Other additions include new general admission access tunnels for additional infield spectator areas.
Thanks,
Tony Miller
