about different ways you could earn some money for RiderDown.

At my son's school they have something called "e-scrip" where you just register your grocery card, or department store card, things along those lines. Then, anytime you use that card, a portion goes to the school.

I was wondering if something similar would work with your foundation. To be able to set something up where people would be donating by just doing what they do everyday.

Hmmm...

Yeah - I've been curious about those programs also. We need someone to really investigate them and find one that would really work for us....hmmmmm. I wish we could find someone willing to take this on and make it happen....

Well,

I did some looking on e-scrip http://groups.escrip.com/program_info/group_qa.jsp

It looked like their requirements for group participation are that the group would have to be involved with youth education somehow. That, and they take 15% a month from what you make (sounds like a lot).

Other than that, something like this might be good. I know you guys have an agreement with some companies where, if the customer mentions RiderDown, said company will contribute a certain percentage to the organization. What if somebody forgets to mention the name? What if somebody knows about RiderDown, but doesn't know that the company contributes if he, or she, just mentions the name "RiderDown"?

It seems like something like this, where people could register a card, or by some other means, could buy what they need to at any given merchant and not have to say after the purchase, "Rats, I forgot to mention RiderDown"!

I don't know about other programs that would do that kind of thing.

RiderDown Card? Like a low percentage credit card-type thing where instead of reward points or money going to the purchaser, it goes to RiderDown. Maybe not even a credit card (since people might not sign-up/use it if the rate is too high), maybe just a put-your-own-money-into-it-type of card (refillable). A percentage of any purchases made with the card go to RiderDown.

It would be nice if you didn't have to depend soley on fund-raising and donations. Not that that's a bad thing, it gets the name out there, but it would be nice to just have some funds that weren't dependent on that.

Hi all, I am new to this program, but there are alot of ideas that this organization has to offer. First and foremost is the fact that the word about the Riderdown program needs to get out. Too many times a rider getting hurt happens and the families are left to fend for themselves. As an ER nurse I see this all too frequently.Starting w/ the local tracks and districts, mine being Dist 34, we need to be passing the word through fliers, or other types of literature. Then, as we all have seen the riders tend to help themselves by donating.Noone gives more to support injured riders than other riders, because we all know one day we may be the rider down. Therefore, starting at your local tracks with some sort of pamphlet would put out the word and website name for ALL diferent area riders to log on and know more about. As I looked over the 108 membernames, the common theme was that mostly west coast locations and southern locations. As this program word spreads to the east, it will continue to grow exponentially.
SO I guess what I am asking, is there a Riderdown official organization flyer or pamphlet, or is that in the works? I'm looking for some paper that I may mass produce to spread the word. Sponsohouse does the same to get more riders aware; not that we are that big yet, but our cause is much more important, atleast in my eyes.

Hi Don,

Welcome to RiderDown and all very good points you make. We are doing a lot of what you speak with people like yourself all over the country. we have some very active volunteers in PA, VA and now a couple in NY you included.

And you are right we need to get the word out! We just like you are working full time jobs supporting our families and a full time job supporting our family of Riders and we can use all the help we can get.

I will be glad to mail you some flyer's, let me know how many you would like to start out with and email me joe@riderdown.org with your address and I'll get them right out with some stickers you asked for too. One of our members MXJeff made some really nice ones that will work great for bumper stickers, swing arms just about anything. You can check them out under Fun stuff and the thread is called show us your Riderdown stickers, I think.

We will be looking for a number of motivated individuals to head up the volunteers in each of their geographical areas. It will need to be someone who doesn't mind hard work day after day, there are no shortage of injured riders and it's not something you can work on one day and then put down for a week. It is very time consuming but the pay is great, the smile on a young child's face, the gratitude of a parent or an adult rider who had been injured.

So we love to have everyone join in you just need to decide how much time you can dedicate to this worthwhile cause and we will match it up with a good program.

Thanks for joining in, we appreciate the effort very much.

Joe
