Shaun Newell

[SUPER SMOOTH]

Shaun Newell crashed at Watkins on Sunday, December 7th. He overshot the camel back jump and went over the berm at the end of the straight away. He was knocked out and has not regained consciousness. He was airlifted to Swedish Medical. He is currently in a coma with a severe brain injury.

Shaun has a wife and a four year old son and an extended family that love and miss him dearly.

Dave "Super Smooth" Newell has been a fixture in Colorado MX for years and is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He has helped me many times over the years at the shops he's worked at and I think he has been wearing the RiderDown wristband I gave him 3 years ago ever since. I've never met his nephew personally but I'm sure he is also a great guy and deserves all of our support.

I wanted to let everyone know that shaun has been moved to craig rehab as of yesterday!!! his improvements have been so amazing this past week or so- we are soooo proud of him and his ability to fight as hard as he has to come back to us! thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Shaun Newell Benefit Ride

Shaun Newell, nephew of long time Colorado Motocrosser Dave Newell, was hospitalized on December 7th after a motocross related accident, which resulted in a severe brain injury that left him in a coma for several weeks. Shaun has recently awoken from the coma and has since been admitted to Craig hospital where he has begun a very difficult and lengthy recovery. Shaun has a wife and four-year-old son that are eagerly awaiting his recovery. Please show your support, as it will be greatly appreciated by Shaun’s family and friends!

Please join the family and friends of Shaun Newell for a day of Fun, Riding and Food at the Watkins Motocross track on Sunday February the 8th. Admission will be the normal $10.00 for members and $12.00 for non-members with a portion of the proceeds going directly to RiderDown.Org on behalf of Shaun. Other activities will include raffle ticket sales, for moto swag and RiderDown.Org will also be selling bracelets.

i went to see nephew last nite & i gotta say it was the best visit yet for sure!he was much more clear in his speaking & able to comprehend alot more of our chat- and it was much easier for me to understand him too!!! i am so pleased & proud of him and his fight to get better & stronger every day! i walked out of the hospital feeling a high that i have not felt in a LONG time!!! it was awsome! ill keep ya posted- until the next time... dave

shaun has been doing AWSOME with rehab! he is walking alot & talking real clearly and having conversations about most anything! we are soooo proud of him as he is working hard every day to get better so he can go home to his family soon- not sure about the weather this sunday, but rain or shine we are having the benefit ride and are gonna raffle off all kinds of cool swag at watkins for shaun and would love to see everyone come out and support the RiderDown Foundation and also to help nephew- winners need not be present to win! thanks for all of your support through this whole deal- like i said before- motorcycle people are the BEST!!!!!!! see ya sunday

hey all!!! just wanted everyone to know that nephew shaun is in his last week of therapy at craig- i saw him last nite and it was a really positive visit! he was soooo much fun and alert and talking smack,much like his old self that i just wanted share it with you all!!! he has certainly come a LONG way that now he doesn't have too far to go to get there! he's finally getting things put together from all of the information he has been getting from everyone about his get-off. the first thing he wants to do when he gets out is go see for himself as to what happened- gotta love him for that,eh??? hello to my favorite moto people!!! just wanted to let ya know nephew shaun is doing a little better every day-he had occupational therapy at his house 3 times a week- now, he goes to craig 3 times a week to work on his mobility as well as his short term memory issues. he is trying real hard to be positive tho gets frustrated at times. we just gotta help him go forward so that he can reach his goals that he has set for himself- one day at a time! thanks for checking on him- you guys are the best! lotso love to all- DAVE
