I am sure everyone has some sort of family tradition at Christmas...I was wondering if people would share thier traditions..

Our family tradition always takes place on Christmas day...we always have breakfast rolls and before any presents get open we read the story of the birth of Christ from the Bible...

Some of our traditional Christmas routines begin well in advance. The annual unpacking, testing and hanging of the lights, choosing, prepping and decorating the tree, Santa's breakfast at our church which includes the obligatory chat with St. Nick & photos, etc, etc.. Cookie baking (and eating) and of course, writing letters to Santa and then the wonderful shopping experience that follows and then the wrapping and shipping of gifts to friends and family around the country. Family time watching all the XMas shows and movies (can't miss the Grinch & Cindy Lou Who). Oh yeah, the egg nog which starts flowing right around Thanksgiving time. :thumb

Xmas eve - we each get to open one gift and I read "Twas the Night Before Cristmas" to the kids. We put out the milk & cookies for Santa, then we ship the kids off to bed with warnings not to get out of bed or to wake up to early (which always fails). A huge last minute flurry of wrapping paper, ribbons and tape usually occurs. Then we fall into bed for some rest before the big day!

Xmas Day is a whirlwind of activity punctuated by reflection of why and what we are celebrating. Opening gifts, eating, taking pictures, eating, phone calls, eating, visiting, napping(?), eating, football, etc..

I'm sure I forgot to mention a few things but you get the idea. Good stuff, but man I'm tired already! 15 days to go! :)

Putting on 5 pounds........that's my tradition.

Just kidding. In my house we carry on the tradition of making pasta by hand in the same way that my grandmother did. If you've never had pasta that didn't come out of a box......you're missing out.
