Hello, my name is Andrew Nixon and I am here to say thank you for helping when I really needed it. I shattered my foot on my bike about seven months ago when I fell in a whoop section at Gravity Alley MX track in Breaux Bridge LA. I wasn't able to work for about five months and at that point I could only work answering phones at a local Honda shop which didn't pay nearly as much as my normal job. Needless to say, I wasn't able to pay my bills for most of this time. I was looking on MotoX talk and I came across the website for the riderdown foundation. I typed in everything that had happened and soon after I recieved a phone call from someone and about two weeks latter I recieved a package from the riderdown foundation with a check and t-shirt. The package came right after I found out I needed more surgery in my foot which put me out of work completely for another month. I can't thank you enough, you came through for me when I really needed it and I will never forget it and I hope that when I'm better I will be able to help you out by donating and by talking to the track owners and letting them know about the foundation and maybe having a charity race to help you. Thank you again very, very, very much and good luck to anyone else that might be injured. Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, to catch you up on what is going on now, I'm actually going to the doctor tomorrow, which has almost been an every Friday occurance since July. The bones in my foot are healed but I have a hole in my foot about the size of a quarter and an inch deep from staph infection from the first surgery in May. I have to clean it and fill it with medicated guauze 3 times a day to help it drain. I'm going to University hospital, which is a free clinic here in New Orleans. The only thing I could complain about is that my appointments are for 8:00 and I dont leave there untill 6:00 sometimes. So that means, the weeks that I have been able to work, I miss a hole day of work just going to the doctor. This whole infection is a result of ,I think, going to a clinic with students because they are doing trial and error, which I know is how they learn but most of the reason I have been out of work so long is because of the infection and not my crushed foot. About two months ago, my foot was almost healed and they told me I had to have surgery again to get the pins out of my foot that were under the infection. So, now the hole is bigger and deeper than before and I am starting all over again. Not to mention I was unable to work for another month. I have been back to work a week and I feel like it will take the next year to catch up on all my bills. I am married and I have 3 children ages 6, 5, and 7 months. I am the bread winner because my wife is a full time nursing student. My landlord has been very understanding but I know he is running out of patience with me. I am 3 thousand behind in rent and 3 months behind on my truck and that is after I just made a 275 payment to keep them from repossesing it. Also we weren't able to pay our car insurance so now we have flags on our licenses. All of my utilities are past due but they are paid enough to keep them on. When I received the donation it was god sent because I had just had surgery the day before and I was wondering how we would get by for the next month. Before the surgery I was told I would only be out of work a few days but after the surgery they said I would be out of work atleast a month. So, to get that check in the mail was an answer to my payers at the most perfect timing. It is hard to put into words how grateful my wife and I are for the help you have given us. The money went directly to our bills and helped buy us some time until I could get back to work. It is very comforting to know there are people like you out there to help in a time of need.
