MSRA (Montgomery Sport Riders Association) and Outlaw Trax will be hosting a benefit ride at Outlaw Trax on July 5, 2008 for Erik (erik727) Shea and his family. Erik has lost his right leg after a long fight trying to recover from a m/x injury. The landowner is allowing us (MSRA) to host this event at the club hare scramble lease with all monies going to Erik and his family. If you can, plan to join us as we show Erik the same support he is known to give others plus you get the rare opportunity to ride this private facility north of Houston, Texas. All the details have not been worked out as of this posting but updates will follow or you can follow the postings on Texas Offroad Network at

That's awesome!! :thumb

Erik is one helluva guy and is one of RiderDown's strongest advocates. The work he has done for others and the compassion he has shown for fellow riders in need is remarkable. We're all behind you!

Whether you know Erik or not ... I must say that Riderdown has and continues to do an amazing job supporting motorcycle enthusiasts in need! If you have not had the opportunity to ride Outlaw in the past, don't miss out on this one and supporting an amazing cause at the same time! Cudos MSRA and Riderdown!

Here's your reminder Howard, it's this weekend.

There is a lot of interest in the Pit Bike Race, a bunch of trash talk going on. Should be fun to watch the old farts on the little bikes! :D

Come on out and have some fun with us and help one of the good guys!

We came, we rode, we shouted (I slammed the truck door on my leg), we visited, we talked, we laughed, we screamed :yikes (I caught the tip of my right middle finger in a boot strap/metal snap), we cheered, we enjoyed the woods, we fell (wet boots on a metal trailer ramp) and we generaly had a blast................... OK change the we to I cause I don't think anyone else was stupid enough the close their own truck door on their leg, mash a finger putting on their boots and then taking a trip down the trailer ramp due to wet soles on their boots. :lmao

More about the benefit and not my attempt to injure myself. We raised over $5000 for Erik and his family. Here's to all that made it possible :thumb I would have really liked to have seen more riders out but it wasn't a bad turn out for a holiday weekend so here's to all that made it out :thumb

I heard Erik made a surprise appearance but it must have been while I was tending to medical issues of our group of three or it was after our early departure.

As said, we made an early departure after one of my group decided to test his safety gear in actual field conditions. I glad to report the equipment functioned as expected but now I have to buy a new helmet and chest protector because his tested ones worked but didn't survive the test. But AC Cobra can now say he has ridden on a Quad (the EMS Quad)

and Pops (Woodsguy) has now ridden an '07 KX65. Still not sure what happened, Kyle can only remember part of it. At first it concerned him because he couldn't remember the crash but he can remember enough we pieced it together. In short he tried to plow a line in the dirt, head first.
Black eye just forming..........

It looks a little darker today.

I had planned to take pictures all day long but was too busy riding the trails with Kyle earlier to stop and take pictures so I took a few at the Pit Bike Race. We also had the kids racing a little, not really Pit Bikes but they were on smaller bikes so we called it Pit Bike racing also. These are in no special order because when I uploaded them to Photobucket the order got mixed up when I hit the edit button to roatate a couple of them from horizonal to vertical.

I saw the protector and took a good look at it. I'm going to look into it a little more. As I said earlier I had to cut out early so I'm not able to really answer your question as to what may have happened later. As far as the RDF swag, it appeared it was moving fairly quick. Seems like everyone or near 'bouts everyone at least had on of the wrist bands. Also had several other riders asking how they could get involved with RDF. :thumb

Yes it is a great place to ride!
Wish I could have taken some photos from the trails. These photos were from the Kid's MX track. There is a a larger MX track and over 20 miles of Hare Scramble trails plus a kid's hare scramble loop.

I'm testing out a new photo gallery (flickr) and had this photo of Erik when he came up to CO for work & we got to sneak in a quick ride. Erik wasn't real used to all the rocks & ice! :yikes
