Hi, I was introduced to RiderDown through a friend, Alan Long, when Willie McCormick passed away. Alan had know of RiderDown through KTM Talk. The way RiderDown stepped up to help out the McCormick family has been amazing, the love and support they have provided is unable to put into words. I was honestly surprised a few weeks ago when on a Saturday, or maybe Sunday, morning my phone rang and it was Bruce again. He had heard of Willie's Dad's (Bob) and his injury (leg amputation). I think we may have talked an hour or so, it reminded me of how much I want to be involved in this great organization.
I am a moto mom, I guess you could call my son, Cody, a mini rider--he rides a KX85 and now a KX100 (Supermini). He is 12, a little guy for the most part, and excited that he's finally hit the 100 pound mark. He's probably only 4'11". He got his first race bike for his 9th birthday (June 2002) and started racing that fourth of July.
In 2003 we started racing every weekend possible, traveling somewhat, but mainly local races (anything within a 3 1/2 hour radius we consider local). I love this sport probably more than my husband, I am always pushing to go to the next race. I handle all of the "business" end of the racing, although I wish I had a personal business which I could write off some of the expenses of this sport  ! I do work with Cody's sponsors, order all the parts, do the cooking, and cleaning (of all gear and the bike). I also do some work on the bike--I enjoy doing that.
We are located in Deer Park Washington, which is just North of Spokane. This year Cody has moved up to the 12-13 85 class (AMA) so he's going to have to work hard if he wants to make his goals, and that is racing at the Loretta's this year--if not, I want to try and go to Ponca.
My family is very involved in motorcross, and that's probably why we've decided to keep doing it even though the though of why has crossed our minds when we've been so close to the McCormicks (my husband, Brian, and I were on the track with Willie when he passed on and again on the track with Bob when he got hurt). We are always there to lend a hand to a fellow rider. Even my 16 year old daughter is involved, she used to complain, but now she's asking where we are racing next so she can try and arrange her work schedule around racing.
Oh, speaking of work, I better get back to my job!
Nice to read and "meet" many of you!
