May 27th, 2008
For Immediate Release:
Wortham, Texas (May 27, 2008): Freestone County Raceway and Freestone National MX tracks are headed into the biggest three weeks in Texas history. Starting May 31st, the finale of the 9th Annual FMF North Texas Night Series will come back to Freestone. Freestone County Raceway is known as the best lit, full size motocross track in the US. The lighting is so great that riders are known to wear tinted lens in their goggles.
The weekend of May 31st through June 1st will also play host to the 2nd Annual Transworld Dirt Days. Attendance is free to the public. Each day will be packed with FREE ride time on the Freestone National MX track, the Red Bull T-N-T Freestyle demo team of X-Games Gold Medal winner Tommy Clowers and Jeff Tilton, the Yamaha Kids "Learn to Ride" area, Vendor Row which incorporates Demo Alley along with retail tents from Central Yamaha, live music and the 2008 Transworld Model Search. Once you fill your Saturday with all that, it will be easy to attend the night racing, then go right back to the national track for Sunday. For more information go to
http://www.transworldmotocross.com/dirtdays/index.html
The largest annual weekend in Texas Motocross is the following weekend as Freestone plays host to the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship. The weekend will kick off on Thursday (June 5th) and Friday (June 6th) with the AMA Amateur Day & AMA Pro/Am racing. This is the first year for the amateurs to compete on the National track while all of the motocross industry watches to see what Texas riders can do on such a stage.
On Saturday, June 7th, the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship riders will return to the Texas soil for practice and qualifying. Saturday will also play host to Round 2 of the Womens Motocross Association (Moto #1). All the attention will then shift to the amateur track with Pit Bike racing under the lights starting at 7:00pm. After the Pit bike event, live music will close out the night.
Then on Sunday, June 8th, the AMA Toyota Motocross riders will hit the dirt to do battle for Round 3 of the championship. Last years event winners and eventual series champions, Grant Langston (Motocross division) and Ryan Villopoto (MX Lites division) have the bulls eye on their backs as the worlds best riders go bar-to-bar for 30 minutes plus two laps, twice to get this years overall winner. As an additional bonus in 2008, the Women Motocross Championship will compete in Moto # 2 on Sunday as well.
To round out this incredible three weeks of two-wheeled mayham, the top amateurs in the region will compete on the National track all bidding to qualify for the 27th Annual Loretta Lynn's Youth Regional. Practice is Friday, June 13th, with the three moto format beginning on Saturday (June 14th) and run through Sunday (June 15th). As in 2006, the regional at Freestone will be broadcast live on the internet on the Feestone website. In 2008, the weekend will be hosted by Wes Cain.
Mark your calendars and make plans for one of the most incredible three weeks in Texas. For complete schedule information, general tickets and camping, direction, hotels and events, go to www.FreestoneMX.com.

Have fun out there this weekend, Dirt Days is a pretty cool event with lots of stuff going on. Last year at the CO event I won a pair of Spy sunglasses and a Fox V3 Carmichael Replica helmet in the free raffle! My twins had a blast with Yamaha's Learn to Ride program (there's some pics in the RD photo gallery) and the Freestyle show was very cool!! :yikes
Good luck to Kelly in the model search as Miss RiderDown!!! :thumb
Of course we will need lots of pics!!

Will do. Thanks! We did the Dirt Days Freestone last Yr as well. It was a poor turn out from what I remember but a lot of fun for the people that did make it. I think this Yr will be a different story as the Free practice is on the Big National Pro Track this yr instaed of the Amature track. We will head out in the morning. Its about a three hour hike for us. I have been working on Bikes all day and its HOT!
Steve donated his Tent and table for the RDF booth.
Full report Next week.

Dirt Days was a Blast!! Mostly the crowd was people just out to practice for the Am-National. Being a free weekend getting donations was a bit difficult. We did manage to pull a few bucks in for RDF and we did hand out a lot of flier's.
Our Rider Down Girl Kelly WON the Miss Transworld Freestone Model Search!!! After that she managed to pull in the majority of the donations we received. People donated just for a pic with Kelly. It was great! Way to go Kelly!!
One very nice "50" dad named Andy walked up to me and handed me $100 cash donation out on the track during 50 practice and asked for nothing in return. He asked me if I was doing the RDF booth and said he appreciated what RDF was doing. I thought to my self ..this is what its all about! His son is nick named "Rooster" and rocks on a 50. I did not get a chance to get his information but he said he wanted to make multi donations over the yr!! I will see him again this weekend and follow up.
On a sad note a 14 YR old rider crashed in practice and was air lifted out of the MX park Sunday. Indirect info was he was unresponsive for about 20 minutes and could not breath on his own. He came too on the Heli and starting fighting the medics which I understand is normal after being out for a that amount of time. I heard rumors that he had no movement in his lower body. I just spoke briefly to to the track owner at end of the day and he said the rumors are false and the boy had 2 broken collar bones and a couple broken ribs and he would be alright. This was a relief for me to here as I had a bad feeling it was a lot worse. His friends ran over to our booth before they went to the hospital and made a small donation in honor of there buddy. I gave them some wrist bands and asked for them to give us an update.
We have lots of Pics and I will post soon. Bruce, when you have a minute give me a call. I met a few contacts that want to be involved with RDF and help that will be looking to talk to you in Co.
I have a cool little video of Hudson riding thru the Texas 12 pack as they announce RDF in the back ground over the loud speakers. Is it possible to post that as well??

Joel, glad to hear everything went well. :thumb
If you need help with the pics let me know. I'm not sure how big the video is, but if it can be emailed, shoot it over. I can also host that. I'm pretty new to it, but I can edit it and/or add music if you'd like.

Sounds like the ride day was a success, all in all. I do hope we can get some updates oin the injured boy!
I heard about the Drennan's last week while we were in Dallas and visiting Todd at TH Racing. I believe (could be wrong) that Rooster's name is Drew. And yes, a super fast kid!!!
