We'll be thinking of Wyatt. I believe there is a memorial race taking place this weekend also.

The Wyatt Barto memorial race was held at Dublin Gap Mx park, in Shippensburg PA yesterday. The day was bittersweet. The support shown by the racing community and family was of course amazing. I know Wyatt was grinning from ear to ear watching all the riders that came out to remember him and celebrate his life.

Wyatt's dad John is back racing. I stood at the fence and watched him take the checkered flag. He had an angel riding with him yesterday.

Krista (97Mom) made arm bands with the #529 for the parade laps. A big thank you to Krista and her husband for everything. :thumb

Krista took pictures and we will have a full report this week.

Thank you for the update. I spoke with a reporter who covered the race from Harrisburg, PA. He was touched and had many good things to say.

I will try and follow this thread and my thoughts and prayers are still with the Barto Family.

Bittersweet is the best way to describe the memorial parade laps that were ridden at Doublin Gap on Sunday April 13th. The weather was much less than ideal with the off and on showers, the wind and cool temperatures. Doublin also had a lower than usual turn out that day with LL qualifiers going on. However, despite all of that, the motocross community made a big showing of their support for one of their own. For $10.00 per rider, we had 57 riders sign up and take part in the parade for Wyatt. They were each given an arm band to wear out onto the track in his memory. Wyatt's dad Johnny lead the precession, and as he came up over the bank at the start, those other 57 bikes rolled after in a line that you just didn't think was ever going to end.

They all wore their bands, some on their arms, some smaller kids on their boot, some on their chest protector, but on they rolled at a respectful pace for 2 laps. Johnny said that he tried to look back and see how many were following, but he just couldn't count them all. The pictures really don't do this justice, I just couldn't fit them all onto my camera. To see that many bikes out showing their support just brought tears to your eyes.

Wyatt's step-mom Shelly was also out (in the gray sweatsuit) riding his bike, with the new number 52 that he was going to run this season. His mom Corie was there also, but she took the side lines for this ride. She will be on the number 52 at our next ride on Memorial Day weekend at Sleepy Hollow. It was a day of mixed emotion, it was wonderful to see the support, but sad for the reason. I'm sure Wyatt was pleased to see of all the support that he had, but my son sums it up best when he tells me some evenings while looking at Wyatt's picture on the wall, "I just miss him."

I have been trying to upload the pictures but am not having any luck, but wanted this part to get out. The only picture I could get up was of the armband that we all wore that day, I'll keep trying.
