First Hello to all. I have been a big supporter of your group for a while and have been reading all these posts here. I hoped I would never have a post to share here but I had the scare of my life with my middle son this weekend. We were camping at Hollister Hills in CA for Easter weekend with family and friends. My hubby had gone on a ride so my middle son said "Mom I am going to ride the kid hill climbs on the kids track with my friends." He takes off. Meean while I am talking with family the next thing I know one of his friends yells at me that my son the one with the bunny ears just crashed bad into another kid and is hurt bad. I take off running. When I get there he has just come to and keeps asking me "Where am I and what goings on" my heart drops. He has a face injury and not looking good. The other boy is holding his leg. Well the rangers come and say we are going call the helo your son has a head injury. When all is said and done they take him in an ambulance and he has a concussion and bruised clavical and that is it. I am soo greatful. The other kid was not as lucky he has a broken tib fib. The good thing for him is that he needs no surgery. They had a head on both in 2nd gear. My sons bike is in pretty bad shape. Bent forks, tacoed rim, plastics broken. The other bike is not to bad.

The greatest thing is that my son wanted to ge back on the bike (I said no that day). So Easter morning he jumped on and rode all day (thanks to our friends that share). I am so greatful and have learned a lot. this type of thing makes you remember to be thankful for the little things.

Im so glad to hear that things are not worse. Sure sounds like they could of been. Tell your son to take it easy. Concussions are nothing to mess around with. Keep us posted.

Welcome to RiderDown! Sorry to hear about the crash and resulting ambulance ride but glad to hear that for the most part the injuries are not to severe. Bikes can be fixed! :D

Glad your son is okay, but have him take it easy for a little while!

Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather. Sometimes it helps so much to just let things out. It is so good to hear your son is okay, and that the other kid's injury isn't severe. As everyone has mentioned, tell him to take it easy, but also know that teenage boys don't listen to their mothers very well....I say that from experience.
