Final round of the Texas AMA Winter
series at Lake Whitney. It was also deemed the Lake Whitney season
opener, Whitney Am National warm up which is in 2 weeks, and at the
last minute a Loretta Lynn Qualifier South Central. Lets just say it
turned into complete KOAS for the organizers!!! Instead of the 500
expected they got hammered with 1500 entries from 25 different states.
They did not even get all the motos done Saturday so they had to
start at first light Sunday to finish the prior days schedule.
Brutal.
The boys had a tough time with the track and competition. It was the
first time we had ridden this track and it was rough and gnarly and
very dangerous. Full gates, and divisions in almost all classes.
Lots of riders dropping like flys with injury's unfortunately. To be
honest it was the toughest weekend yet we have had ever but the kids
survived a little bruised and battered. It was good to get them out
with some of the US fastest kids on such a prestigious track.
50cc 7-9 Hudson ran hard and finished in 24th out of 40 kids.
50 cc 4-9 0pen Hudson went for the holeshot and was rear ended hard in the first turn which put him on the bottom of a 6 bike pile up and was unable to finish due to his rear diskbeing bent where he was hit. The medics thought he broke his leg but Iron Man Hudson wanted none of that and jumped up with just a bad bruise on his leg.
Series Final point Standings for Hudson 12th and 13th overall (Awsome!)
65cc 10-11
Moto 1 qualifier-Bailey was running around 10th place when his bike slowed in a corner for some reason. Bailey came to a stop, looked around and started to take off when a flagger ran out on the track and stopped him then proceeded to pull a kid from his back wheel well??? Bailey lost a few positions but ran hard to the finish to clinch the last qualifying spot and advanced to the Main Moto 2. (Moto 2 had to be ran day2 first thing with NO practice do to lack of light caused by dis organization)
Moto 2 Main- Bailey again was running around 9th when he went down hard in a corner at the top of a large hill. He jammed a few fingers but was able to finish and ended up 35th out of 40 riders.
65cc 7-11 Open Mod
Moto 1 qualifier-Bailey had a bad start and was running around 20th when he fought back up to 15th and then lost one position to his buddy. Off to LCQ he went.
LCQ- Bailey was in 10th of the start and finished 5th advancing him into the main.
Moto 2 Main- Bailey Ran well for the first 2 laps then got punted from behind on a high speed roller and cart wheeled 4 times into some hay bales. When I got to him the medics had him sitting up with out his helmet. Bailey, sore and tears in eyes jumped back on to his bike and finished with the crowd cheering him on. (Baileys final point standings for Series not posted yet)
Not the results we needed but the boys are safe, and thats what matters most.
Unfortunatly we had to hand out some RDF swag to two 65 riders. One broke his arm and the other broke his nose. We wish them a speedy recovery. These kids were parked next to us and Hudson and Bailey brought them some stickers, wrist bands, and hats we had kicking around. Please send more.
